EJ DUNN MIDDLE SCHOOL SPRING BAND CONCERT

The EJDunn Spring Band concert will be taking place on Wednesday, June 18th in the EJD Gym from 11:00 – 12:30. Parents and /or Guardians are welcome.

SCHOLASTIC SPRING BOOK FAIR

Congratulations to the following winners of the “I wish I could win the book” contest:

Books will be delivered to students when they arrive.

Thank you to all who supported our book fair. We raised over $1300.00 for books for our library.

We are very grateful for all that our school community does to support the students at EJ Dunn.

·  Thank you to our students who did a great job presenting at Good News from the Schools at the May 13 School Board Meeting. Kylea Anderson, Taylor Fong, Jakob Gaudet, Jasmine Gomez, Austin Lessard, Bronwyn Zodichi, Steven Marshall and, Olivia Zanette represented the After School Rugby Program and Anna Flint, Marlena Locke, and Reghan Geddes represented the Grade 7 Late Immersion Reading Buddies. All the students did a great job representing our school.

·  Thank you to everyone who helpedmake the Grade 7 field trip to Camp Thunderbird a reality. Special thanks to the parents who chaperoned the Camp Thunderbird Trip we appreciate your help and generosity.Thankyou to all the parents, students, and teachers who were involved in the fundraising and organizing of the trip.

·  Thank you to all our students and staff who participated in our school track day at Bob Dailey May 21.The track meet would not have been possible without the help of our school community.Thank you to volunteers Lauretta Howard-Dyer, Jim Boyce, Greg Stirzaker, Ryan Yewchin and everyone else who helped make it possible. Thank you to Mrs. Dyer for her work coordinating the event.

·  Our May 16 activity day was a huge success.Thank you to our guests who volunteered to make it happen.Mr. Pinkerton, Mike Klein of Epk Parkour, and all the staff who supervised the activities.

·  Thumbs up to students from our school who volunteered to help at the elementary track meet.Isaac McDonald, Kaara Plater, Bronwyn Currey, Dillon Pilcher, Evelyn Yan, and Nicole Gagnonthank you for being giving.

·  Thank you to the Black Sheep Rugby Club who were a huge part of the success of our school rugby team.Special thanks to Bob Milton, Anthony Selva, James Cowan, John Symington, James Reynolds helped coach the EJ Dunn and Neill Rugby Teams. Sarah Logan, Dane Dentoom, and Ryan Foster assisted with demonstrations and Randy Thoen helped coordinate the program.

·  Thank you to the students and staff who volunteered to help organize and run our Scholastic Book Fair. Special thanks to Ms. Johannessen for her leadership.

·  Thank you to the City of Port Alberni, our bus drivers, Island Timberlands, Sheena Falconer and the Grade 8 teachers for organizing our trips so that our Grade 8s could visit and learn about the water reservoir, the sewage treatment site, and the estuary.

·  Thank you to our school liaison officer Constable Shelley Schedewitz for all the time she has dedicated to working with the students and staff at EJ Dunn. We wish her well in her new position.

·  Thank you to Mrs. Falls, Ms. Dyler and the ADSS Band for performing at our school on Tuesday June 3.

HERSHEY TRACK MEET – JUNE 10, 2014

Alberni Track and Field Club is hosting Hershey Track Meet. This meet is open to all children ages 9-14 years and there will be three age categories 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. Children will compete in their respective age grouping. Each child is allowed to enter three events. They can enter two running and one field event, or two field events and one running. The events that will be offered are

Running – 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 4x100m

Field – softball throw, standing long jump

The meet will be held at Bob Dailey Track, starting at 4:00 pm. June 10th, 2014.

Allowable footwear: running shoes. Spikes or cleats are not allowed.

Come join us for a fun filled evening of running, jumping and throwing.
