Welcome to our first Newsletter of 2016,we know by your phone calls you have been waiting for this Newsletter! We had a great 2015 with our Travel Club outings including our 3 day tours with hosts Peter and Joanne. They proved a great hit;you will be pleased to find more in this newsletter!

Thursday March 3rd:Legerwood Carvings &Mountain Stream Fisheries

Today we visit the world famous Legerwood Memorial Chainsaw Carvings; after ample time to wander and look we move onto Ringarooma for a tasty soup & sandwich lunch prepared by the Ringarooma Historical Society committeewith their beautiful country style home cooking! After lunch we travelto Targa for a great fun afternoon where you are guaranteed to catch your own golden trout! No need to bring a fishing rod as all equipment supplied. Pack your esky or cooler bag to put your cleaned and ice-packed catch in. (Price includes 1 fish; if you wish to catch more there is an extra charge.)

Monday 21stMarch:Ratho FarmNant Whisky Distillery Since our 3 day tour last year we have been asked for a day trip to Ratho Farm at Bothwell. Here you willtake a tour of Ratho Farm & Homestead with its beautiful English gardens and golf course. A delicious lunch will be waiting for you whilst there before moving onto the Nant Whisky Distillery for a 30 minute guided tour of the Distillery & the Historical Nant Mill.

Tuesday 5th April: Latrobe & North West Coast Shopping Day It’s time to gather your shopping bags as we visit Latrobe, the Australian Weaving Mills towel factory in Devonport, Anvers Chocolates and Ashgrove Cheeses. Lunch will be at your own expense today.

Thursday 21stApril: Cradle Mountain Day Tour

Experience the grandeur and splendor of Cradle Mountain, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Enroute you will see native animals, King Billy Pines, magnificent scenery, distinctive flora; also you will visit Dove Lake, Waldheim Chalet (where you will hear the story ofGustav Weindorfer)a visit to the Wilderness Gallery and much more. Lunch today is a 2 course meal at The Cradle Mountain Hotel. Warm layered clothing including coat, gloves, hat and sturdy footwear is a must.

Tuesday 10th May: MONA or Hobart Shopping

Visit MONA today and discover for yourself what this large privately owned museumwhich is located within the Moorilla Winery has to offer with its constantly changing exhibits. Remember to take your ID as having a Tasmanian address allows you free admission. Lunch is available to purchase at MONA or you may wish to take your own and eat whilst sitting outside enjoying the scenery along the Derwent River. Alternatively you may wish to spend the day shopping in Hobart.

Friday 20thMay: Beautiful Bicheno

Bicheno on our picturesque east coast being on the door step of the Bay of Fires, is famous for it’s mild climate, sandy beaches and it has it’s own natural wonder,the blowhole. The blowhole puts on a magnificent display as saltwater blasts from the top of this geological wonder. When this happens during rough weather the 80 tonne boulder next to the blowhole rocks with the tide – a magical sight.Lunch today will be a 2 course meal at Beachfront Bicheno. We will travel via the Fingal Valley and return via Lake Leake.

May 31st – June 2nd 2 Musicals - 3 Day Melbourne Trip

Singin’ in the Rain starring Adam Garcia (‘Dancing WithThe Stars’) & an old favourite The Sound of Music (Matinee) starring Cameron Daddo, Marina Prior, Lorraine Bayly plus a cast of many more!

We have a great few days planned including The Marilyn Munro exhibition being held incountry Bendigo on the final day.

Itinerary: Day 1 – ‘Singin in the Rain’ at 7pm – Her Majesty’s Theatre, (afternoon free, walking to & from Theatre, dinner on the way, own expense)

Day 2 – ‘Sound of Music’ at 1pm – Regent Theatre(free morning, walk to & from theatre)

Today we will have a scenic drive via Lilydale to Lost Farm at Barnbougle for a look at this world famous golf course. Afterwards it’s onto the Bridport Bunker Club for a 2 course lunch then to the Scottsdale RSL Military Museum where you can see its latest addition, the Vietnam era Helicopter.

Friday 30thSeptember: It’s Daffodil Time at Kaydale Lodge, Nietta.

Many of you have been asking for a trip to Kaydale Lodge Gardens during the daffodil season and now we can oblige! The magnificent garden is set on over 70 hectares and was established by the Crowden family who with the help of their daughters still run it. There are over eighty thousand daffodils along with various and extensive flower gardens, vegetable gardens, plus fruit trees and much more to see. Included will be a guided garden tour so comfortable walking shoes are a must. Lunch will be in their restaurant using some of their own produce and maybe a little gift from Kaydale Lodge for everyone attending.

11th - 13thOctober 3 day Port Arthur Trip

It’s all aboard for another of Joanne & Peter’s 3 day adventures! This venture will focus on the Port Arthur areas including a day passon day 2 to Port Arthur Historical Site which will include a 40 minute guided walking tour, a 25 minute harbour cruise with plenty of time to browse the historical sites found within the complex. (Lunch today will be at your own expense from one of the cafes on site.)The first and third days will be fun filled sightseeing with Peter at the wheel ensuring a great time and value for all!Accommodation will be 2 nights at the Fox & Hounds Hotel, Port Arthur.

Tuesday 25 October YarnsVillarettGardens

Today we make our way to Yarns Artwork in Silk at Deloraine. Yarns is a large scale project created by over 300 community members of quilted silk panels, one for each season, set in the Meander Valley. Whilst there listen to a great audio presentation and view special lighting effects as you enjoy looking at the panels.From Deloraine we move onto Villarett Gardens at Kimberley where you will enjoy a lovely lunch followed by some time to wander the 4 hectares of modern formal gardens featuring Beech, Holly & Oak trees planted over a century ago. Since 1970 the gardens have been further developed with mass plantings of conifers, roses, climbers, bulbs and numerous water features and striking sculptures which complete this magnificent garden for your enjoyment.

Day 1:Today we travel from Launceston via Midlands Highway to Hobart, then further south enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way.It will be a day of surprises as we travel!

Day 2:After a cooked breakfast and early start we will traveleven further south to the Ida Bay Railway, with a BBQ Lunch followed by the famous train trip! From then it’s onto the Bronze Whale at the end of the road, which is the closest point where you can travel to Antarctica. At the end of our day we will return to Hobart for our evening meal and cosy accommodation

Day 3:Another day full of surprise and adventure with Joanne & Peter in controlas we head home!

After a garden tour at Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company in their new outdoor conservatory, you will enjoy their gourmet BBQ lunch; before returning home we visit Turner’s Blackwood FurnitureCompany.
