EXPERIENCE

University at Albany, Albany, NYJan/1995-Dec/1995 and Jan/2000-Aug/2002, and Sept/2003 to Present

Teach Financial Accounting Theory II to 50 undergraduate students. Have taught Financial Accounting Theory I, Accounting for Managers, and Principals of Personal Income Tax to both undergraduate and graduate sections. Taught large lecture introductory courses in the Principals of Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting. Class size varied - largest class taught was in excess of 200 students. Prepare and deliver daily lectures, create class assignments, prepare and grade all exams, use WebCT as course management tool to enhance student-learning experience.

Currently serve as Director of Accounting Graduate Programs:

Helped in the coordination of week long orientation session for incoming Graduate Students in conjunction with the Director of MBA programs, serve as faculty liaison to a newly formed graduate student association, developed an “Accounting Career Class” to better serve the Graduate Accounting Students by bringing in guest speakers and teaching interviewing and resume writing skills, have developed a mentoring program (1st year students paired with second year students), counsel and serve as mentor to hundreds of students (undergraduates as well), act as editor of Accounting Department Newsletter, attend numerous recruiting events to encourage new students to consider UAlbany’s Accounting programs, and serve as the Accounting Department representative on the School of Business Graduate Affairs Committee.

Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NYSept/2002 to Aug/2003

Visiting full-time lecturer in accounting. Taught Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting and Management Information Systems and E-commerce to undergraduate students. Prepared and delivered daily lectures, created class assignments, prepared and graded all exams.

New York State Dormitory Authority, Albany, NYNov/1994-Aug/1998

As accounting supervisor in the Financial Reporting Unit, supervised and reviewed the work of six accounting staff members, monitored the financial statements of a $25 billion debt portfolio, prepared quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial reports that were sent to Authority clients, compiled accounting information and related data for annual audit as well as other specialty audits, worked on numerous special projects - after a merger with MCFFA in 1995, developed a methodology to convert the financial data of the $12 billion merged entity into the Authority’s operations.

Tax practitioner for local law firm. Prepared corporate, partnership, individual, fiduciary, and private foundation tax returns. Advised clients in tax matters, and financial planning concerns.

Accounting auditor for Coopers & Lybrand. Independently reviewed, compiled, and audited financial information for private, public sector, and not-for-profit organizations. Gained experience in auditing large entities, specifically, governmental, hospital, and manufacturing clients. Prepared financial reports.

Internal Revenue Agent for the Manhattan District. Managed large inventory of tax cases. Audited individual, small business, and corporate tax returns, determined federal tax liability and assessed tax. Developed strong tax research skills. Received extensive classroom and on-the-job income tax training, met deadlines and developed time-management skills.
