3-year full-time PhD Studentship available for research on
Perimetry of the Peripheral Visual Field in Glaucoma
We will develop an efficient and patient-friendly technique to examine the mid- and far-peripheral visual field of patients with glaucoma and other disorders. With this test, we will then find out how peripheral visual field damage impacts on patients’ mobility and balance, and how such tests can help us track disease progression in glaucoma.
Under the guidance of Prof Paul H Artes (principal supervisor), Dr Stephanie Mroczkowska (co-supervisor), and Mr Adam Booth (Glaucoma consultant at the Royal Eye Infirmary, Plymouth), the student will acquire expert knowledge in glaucoma, visual fields, and perimetry;skills in programming and numerical analysis; and writing- and presentation skills.S/he will be part of the rapidly growing Eye and Visionresearch group at the School of Health Professions and will interact with an active collaborative network of researchers and postgraduate students from a large range of disciplines (e.g. ophthalmology; mathematics, statistics & computer science), nationally and internationally.
This PhD Studentship is funded by the College of Optometrists and includes full UK/EU tuition fees and a tax-free stipend of £14,057 per annum, for a term of 3 years.
