My name is Tialtinpari (Pari),a fourth semester student of Govt.Zirtiri Residential Science College,a RUSA beneficiary institution from the State of Mizoram. As a student of the college,I first came to know about RUSA when I was awarded the ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD in three subjects namely Zoology,Botany and chemistry for having secured the highest marks in these subjects. The award was funded by the Equity initiative scheme of RUSA.This award has encouraged me and other recipients to strive harder for academic excellence.

Since the inception of RUSA programmes, our college has undergone a tremendous change for the better. Our updated laboratory equipment, projector assisted classrooms, better equipped libraries have made learning more fun and exciting. The remedial classes funded by RUSA have brought about a marked improvement in the performance of the students, especially among the slow learners. The lighting systems in our classrooms have improved greatly with the installation of Solar backing system funded by RUSA.Gone are the awful days of dark and heated classroom caused by power-cuts!!!

Further, the newly constructed Science Laboratory at Durtlang New Campus when fully functional willgive us better academic environment.

Finally, a memorable experience was when the former Union Minister of MHRD Smt.Smriti Zubin Irani inaugurated our language Laboratory funded by RUSA on 3.6.2016.It was an honour to interact with her through video-Conferencing,an event we will never forget as students.Since its inauguration the language laboratory has been utilized to improve our communication skills. As a young student, I can foresee our college forging ahead towards greater achievements with assistance from RUSA.Long live RUSA!!

Born in Aizawl and raised in Sihphir Venghlun, I - Joseph Lalchhanchhuaha, a student-beneficiary of RUSA , aspire to become a Probationary Officer (PO) in a Bank. I am a fourth-semester student of Commerce stream in Govt. Aizawl College, the eldest of the four siblings.

My goal is to educate and give voice to today’s youth in general, and to my siblings in particular, and to “break barriers of ignorance through profession.”

I am thankful for introducing the scheme ofRashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for the following reasons:

(i)There is a big change in classroom teaching from conventional system to I.T. classes. After the implementation of RUSA Scheme Power Point Presentation with projector have been used which I never experience before. This type of teaching is very interesting, effective and unborring.

(ii)I used to access and visit Internet Resource Centre in a free of cost where educational site can be visited and downloaded and printed out reading materials for helping my classroom teaching and lessons. It is fantastic experience.

(iii)I used to attend Remedial Classes where my particular problems have been as to teacher/tutor in face to face, it is just like mentoring and counseling which encourage me in solving my personal problems as well as academic weakness.

(iv)for providing the College, where I pursue a graduate degree, institutional requirements under RUSA Infrastructure Grants, such as:

- upgradation/renovation of the existing College canteen/cafeteria and toilets, painting of whole College building

- new equipments: sports & adventure facilities, computers, books/journals, language laboratory and water cooler in the existing College Campus

- building a new cafeteria in the new College Campus at Mualpui, Aizawl

for conducting remedial classes that I hope will help get me my goal – a PO.

(i)I eagerly attended classes which my performance of attendance is better up to 80% - 87% which I never achieve before. I also given more interest in learning lessons and I hope my academic results will be better at the end of semesters.

(ii)My responsibility as the eldest of four siblings is not easy at all, neither is our financial status. The lessons and remedial classes will help me in getting to my goal – a PO, or, at the very least help establish a glass-industry of my own. I also have plans to volunteer my services to impoverished communities to help build safe, better and stable life. I am grateful to RUSA for the opportunity given for personal and professional growth.
