You will need per caterpillar
· 6 large marshmallows
· 2 liquorice straps (approx 30 cm long)
· teaspoon
· knife
· chopping board
· plate
Push 1 liquorice strap through the centre of a marshmallow (you may need to make a hole in the marshmallow first
using the handle of a teaspoon). Thread marshmallows on so that they touch each other. The last one only needs to be pushed
1/2 way through. Trim off any excess liquorice from the other end (this is the head end)
Cut the other strap as follows
10X2 cm legs
2x4 cm antenna
2x1 cm eyes
Make a hole for 2 legs in each marshmallow (one on each side). Push the legs in approx 1/3 of the length of the liquorice.
Add the antenna in the same way to the head. Make a hole for the eyes using the cut off threaded liquorice as a mouth. Push the liquorice all the way in.
These make great treats to accompany hot chocolate at campfires!
