Jesus Said “were your faith the size of a mustard seed you could say to this mulberry tree, Be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it would obey you”

All the readings this Sunday point to having faith in God and the difference that faith can make in our lives. A Polish priest, Fr. Tadeusz Dajcze, says on faith “Faith is the acknowledgement of one's own helplessness.” The belief that one owns nothing, that everything is a gift. It is the awaiting of all gifts from God."Jesus tells His disciples today “were your faith the size of a mustard seed you could say to the mulberry bush 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea and it would obey you'.” This is hard to believe but what Jesus is telling us is that God empowers us to accomplish things that are beyond our own strength if we but have faith in Him. In the first reading we see nothing has changed in the world where injustice, violence and discord flourish; hearts are hardened for one’s own selfish agenda; respect for life at all levels is ignored and all of this is because of our lack of faith and belief in God. But if we do have faith and humbly acknowledge our dependence on God for everything and as we see in the Gospel see ourselves as His servants, doing nothing more that our duty as Catholics, our faith will be increased and we can become liberated from all our fears. If we persevere during our trials and tribulations putting our trust in Jesus Christ we will be given the necessary graces to overcome all things. “The upright man will live by his faithfulness." St, Paul tells us we must fan the flame, guard it and nurture it. We can do this by humbly following Jesus through participating in Holy Mass and the Sacraments and the teachings of Jesus’ Catholic Church. “Let us bow and bend low, let us kneel before the God who made us; for He is our God and we the people who belong to His pasture, the flock that is led by His hand. We cannot separate faith and humility. Both give us power to be God’s image in the world calling it back to Him.
