MD.4.10-Draw a picture graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set with up to four categories. Solve simple put-together take apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph.

Engage: Students will be given manipulative (M&M, Skittles, Fruit Loop, Cubes, etc.) to sort. Students will then be asked to create a picture graph using the data they collected. Teacher will walk around and check for students understanding. Students will share their picture graph with their table group. Teacher will review Vocabulary word with students. Teacher will use pg. 473 to teach picture graph then use page 477 to have students show their understanding of how to create a picture graph.

Teacher will review vocabulary words with students. Teacher will introduce bar graph with students by using pg. 482. Teacher will ask students to talk to their group about what the bar graph reminds them of. Teacher will clear up any misconceptions. Teacher and students will complete pg. 482.
Students will work in groups to complete 483-484 to show understanding.
