2nd Annual South Charlotte Sports Report

Middle School Showcase Games

December 22 - 23, 2014

Showcase Games Particpants;

Congratulations on your selection to play in the 2nd Annual South Charlotte Sports Report Middle School Showcase Games. We are so excited to offer this event and are eager to meet everyone and watch you play. For those that may not be familiar with the South Charlotte Sports Report and all that we do, please let me take a second to tell you.

I started the South Charlotte Sports Report youth sports newspaper 9 years ago as an outlet to feature top student-athletes and teams in our community. In addition to the newspaper, I operate 15-20 sports camps a year, a large youth sports photography company, Baseball and Football Award Banquets, The Battle of the Border Baseball and Softball All Star Showcase and now this exciting event. Yes I stay busy, but my mission of helping youth in the area remains true. This event fell right into place with my goal of providing opportunities for youth in the area that believe in hard work inside the classroom and on the field of play.

Let’s move forward and lay out your schedule and more about how Monday and Tuesday will operate

Accelerate Basketball Workout

I am very excited to bring my friends Blake Boehringer, Brandon Payne and Randall Clark back again for the 2nd Annual South Charlotte Sports Report Middle School Basketball Showcase. Accelerate Basketball is one of the top basketball training companies in the country. Located just across the state line, Accelerate Basketball trains all levels of players from NBA All-Star Stephen Curry all the way down to basketball beginners. They bring a unique style of proven basketball training to the area and are a wonderful group of trainers, very dedicated to the clients they serve.

Coaches

Coaches are in place with the primary function of overseeing playing time. They will be provided with guidelines on playing time. The last thing to worry about is who the coach is, they will all be operating with equal playing time, there is nothing a coach is going to do to take away from your child. This is the part where I say, sit back, relax and enjoy the experience with your son or daughter. Please thank them for their time. There are no trophies or medals to take home. This event is a showcase event.

Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship is a very key element of all of our events and will be with this event as well. We simply won’t tolerate anyone that shows poor sportsmanship. Any misbehavior by players or fans will lead to immediate dismissal from the event. Again, this event is for the kids, as adults, let’s let them have fun and enjoy this unique experience.

In an event like this, there are all sorts of folks from all around the area that will be watching. I stress to the kids and parents the following – “You never know who is watching, don’t leave a lasting negative impression.”

Warm-ups

Warm-up time will be very limited due to a tight operating schedule.

3 Point Contest

Each participant will have the opportunity to make as many three pointers as possible in the selected time limit. Top 4 and ties will move forward to the Finals Round
