Explanatory notes

1Definitions

Personal protective equipment – refers to equipment designed for the protection of eyes, hands, feet, and hair.

Worksite requirements–refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace. These requirements include– company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer’s specifications, product quality specifications, legislative requirements.

2Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes– Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.

Outcome 1

Make a template for cutting glass.

Evidence requirements

1.1Materials for making the template are selected to meet the job specifications.

1.2Any variances are identified and calculated to ensure final measurements meet the job specifications.

1.3Template is designed and produced in accordance with the job specifications both in the workshop and scribed on-site.

1.4Template is cut and recorded in accordance with worksite requirements.

1.5Health and safety requirements are identified in terms of personal protective equipment, materials and equipment requirements.

1.6Completed template is checked against the job specifications.
