1.1A summary of the specifications of all operational tufting machines is prepared in accordance with workplace procedures.
Rangegauge, cut pile, loop pile, needle bar, lateral movement, yarn tensioning system, production rate.
1.2A summary of specifications of current standard product range includes the critical factors which differentiate the products and is prepared in accordance with workplace procedures.
Rangeyarn specification, carpet gauge, stitch rate, pile type, pile height, pile weight, patterning system;
evidence – five products.
Outcome 2
Select, and set up a tufting machine to run a product trial.
Evidence requirements
2.1The tufting machine is selected to suit product specification.
Rangeyarn specification, dyeing specification, gauge, stitch rate, pile type, pile height, pile weight, patterning system.
2.2Selected tufting machine is set up in the appropriate configuration for a manufacturing trial in accordance with workplace procedures and data from sample production.
2.3Run carpet tufting machine in accordance with workplace procedures.
2.4Critical parameters of carpet from trial are confirmed to be within allowable tolerances in accordance with product specification.
Rangepile height, pile weight, pile appearance, back stitch, absence of faults.
2.5Machine configuration is finalised and added to the summary of specifications in accordance with workplace procedures.
