25thKVS NATIONAL CHILDREN SCIENCE CONGRESS-2017 BEGINS AT KV ONGC DEHRADUN

3-Day Science Fiesta of KVS National Children Science Congress-2017 from 23rd to 25th November, commenced with great zeal and exuberance at KV ONGC Dehradun today. The chief guest Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General UCOST Dehradun inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Sh. Somit Shrivastav Dy. Commissioner KVS Dehradun Region welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries present on this occasion by presenting mementoes. He expressed his feelings of immense pride and ecstasy to be a host of such great event wherein participants from every nook and corner of India had gathered and called the assemblage as ‘Mini-India’. Sh. N.S. Rana, former Deputy Commissioner, Sh. J. S. Bhandari, former Deputy Commissioner, Sh. P. Singh, Retd. Principal KVS and the learned Principals of different KV’s of Dehradun Region also graced the occasion with their benign presence. The mesmerising cultural programmes such as Saraswati Vandana, Welcome Song, Nritya-Natika called ‘Ganga Avataran’ presented by the enthusiastic and talented students of KV Upper Camp Dehradun, set the tone for the day.

Sh. D.S. Negi, the venue Principal said that 259 student participants hailing from different KV’s of 25 Regions across India, registered themselves to be a part of this national level children science congress wherein 149 were in senior category and 110 in junior category. The focal theme of NCSC-2017 is “Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development”which focuses on giving precedence to the children’s scientific elegance and innovation. This 3-day science fiesta will be an amalgamation of different research oriented sub-themes such as - Food and Agriculture, Health, Hygiene and Nutrition, Lifestyle and Livelihood and Traditional Knowledge System, wherein the students will exhibit their research work on the said themes. The research work of 42 participants will be selected for the All India Level Children Science Congress. The winners will be felicitated on the concluding day.

KV ONGC, The venue school appeared drenched in scientific aura. The preparation of this mega event had started a month back in the school. The entire staff of the KV ONGC, Dehradun had been working relentlessly to make this event a success. The budding scientists looked extremely enthusiastic to showcase their potential and take their organisation as well as their country to newer heights and resplendence through their scientific innovations. The chief guest Dr. Rajendra Dobhal applauded the programme saying that providing this type platform to children is the best way to harness their potential and exhorted the children to transcend their thinking by setting even higher standards, thus helping their country to be self-reliant in the field of science and technology.

A galaxy of renowned and experienced scientists, engineers, professors, educationists from different departments of Uttarakhand had been invited to assess the research work of the participants.
