24th Annual African Violet Show & Sale

Theme: “Symphony Of Violets”

The show will be judged by the standards of the national organization, African Violet Society of America (http://www.AVSA.org).

The club will showcase prized specimens in all classes of standard, semi-miniature, and miniature varieties. The show will highlight variegated and fantasy species from many national hybridizers. These types of violets are never seen for sale in stores. Several varieties of gesneriads, cousins of African violets, will also be displayed and available for sale. These varieties will include: streptocarpus, episcias, sinningias, primulinas and more. Throughout the show members will be on hand to offer advice on violet & gesneriad growing. There will be an extensive selection of starter plants and leaves for sale as well as supplies such as: pots, reservoirs, special fertilizers, and the club's special soil mix, made especially for African violets.

Sponsor information: The Heart of Jacksonville African Violet Society is a non-profit organization founded in the fall of 1992 with the purpose of creating and stimulating interest in African Violets. The club is committed to providing education on cultivation and propagation of African Violets and meets on the third Sunday of each month at 1:00 PM at the Jacksonville Garden Club, 1005 Riverside Ave., Jacksonville Florida 32204. Monthly meetings include programs and demonstrations concerning various violet related issues.
