*Talk about God making the world. The wind, the sea, the waves, the clouds, the rain, thunder and lightening. Jesus was there too! It was before he came to this world as a newborn baby! He can make the storm stop and he can keep us safe when things are scary. He will help us to be very brave because we know he is looking after us!
We can talk to Godany time. When we are sad and when we are frightened or scared. He will help us to be brave if we ask him.
Praying is talking to God.He always hears us.
Children sit in “boat”

Play action song “The Storm” (25 Noah’s Ark)
Use a flat container with blue or green jelly as sea. Set fish into cooled jelly before it sets. Have a small plastic boat – ( capture some pictures from Peter Walks on Water – or Jesus Calms Storm book – of disciples glue in side of boat.)
Cut out figures of Jesus and Peter to stand on Jelly.
Also boat with other helpers in. Act out story.
- Jesus wanted to pray by himself.
- His helpers rowed out in the water.
- The wind began to blow,
- The waves got bigger
- The boat began to go up and down
- “We wish Jesus was here,” they said.
- They saw someone walking on the water.
- You can’t walk on water or you sink.
- Put heavy things onto a dish of water.
- Jesus called out “Don’t be scared it is me.”
- Peter didn’t believe it was Jesus.
- “Tell me to come to you on the water,” said Peter.
- He got out of the boat.
- He looked at the waves and he began to sink.
- “Help me Jesus,” he said.
- Jesus held his hand
- He was safe.
- They got back into the boat.
- Peter knew that when you are scared ask Jesus to help you.

Cut out a scene with boat and Jesus walking on water on right. Sea is in between. Cut slit in sea, across page, between above. Slip one side of a strip of paper through slit, staple together under picture. Slide strip along slit.Glue Peter to strip. He “walks” across scene on water. (Activity on web.)
When we are scared we only need to pray and Jesus will help us to be brave.”
