To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to apply for an entry-level position at Accenture that was posted by my university career center. I will graduate this May and I can begin work in mid-July. I first heard about Accenture at my university’s e-week events, which are sponsored by Accenture, and I was very impressed by the range of services that you provide and the industries with whom you work. I believe that my combination of experiences and background make me an ideal candidate for a consulting position in your company.

As indicated on my resume, I have a diverse range of experiences, indicative of my adaptability in different fields, which compliment my academic background. At Procter & Gamble Cosmetics, I was responsible for designing experiments to evaluate the performance of prototype brushes. At the end of my project, I presented my results to the board and the positive results were responsible for the continuation of the project. In addition, I worked for two summers at NASAGlennResearchCenter where I applied my technical background to various projects that ranged from atomic oxygen contamination and durability of materials in space to atomic oxygen cleaning of materials on earth. Although I had a mentor who provided guidance, I mainly worked independently in the labs, and at the end of each summer, I presented my results and conclusions to the Electro-Physics branch. I have also worked as an English teacher in China, where I coordinated a group of 20 American teachers and managed a classroom of Chinese students. I am currently employed at the ElectronicsDesignCenter at my university where I am developing a uric acid microsensor for early detection of kidney diseases.

These experiences have helped me to develop as both a person and as a professional. I have always worked in teams where communication and maintaining good relationships are essential. While I am very involved with organizations on-campus, I can maintain a GPA of 3.97, so time management and multi-tasking are two of my greater strengths. I am an ethical, hardworking, and meticulous person who pays attention to detail. I believe that I can apply my combination of skills and background to develop solutions to challenging problems.

My chemical engineering education has provided me with a solid engineering foundation. The laboratory courses at my school have provided hands-on experience with different pieces of pilot-sized equipment that are used in processes including distillation towers, extraction columns, and others. My senior capstone project involves the design of an ethanol plant from a list of desired specifications. We began the project with a market report and a preliminary process flow diagram. We will write a final report and present a formal presentation of the final ethanol plant to the department and our peers. My role in my lab and project groups is that of the team leader where I am responsible for scheduling meetings, contacting the professors, managing the duties, and overseeing the process. In addition to the lab courses, I am also studying advanced reaction engineering and advanced transport phenomena, which are a part of my advanced studies, technical sequence. The courses that I have studied have given me the versatile background needed in a fast-paced work environment.

Please contact me if you require additional information. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the challenging work being done at Accenture. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Name
