Dear Fairfield Academy Family,

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I hope your family had a wonderful summer. Our extended summer break is quickly coming to an end, but at The Fairfield Academy we’ve been working hard to prepare for a great 2017-2018 school year.

It is with great excitement that our staff welcomes back many returning students! We would like to also extend a special welcome to all new individuals starting their first year at the Academy. There will be many familiar faces on our staff this school year, with the exception of the administrative team. After spending four years on the administration team at Fairfield High School, I am excited to be serving as the Director of The Academy. Chrissy Zboril will be the Dean of Students this year. She spent the last four months of last school year in that position, and is excited to return to the Academy for the upcoming school year. We eagerly await the arrival of students on Tuesday, September 5th and look forward to working with your family to make sure that this is a successful year both in and outside of the classroom.

The focus at the Academy is serving the whole student, their family and our community. We offer a blended, non-traditional learning environment, where students are immersed in a curriculum individualized to their needs. Academic achievement, positive and safe behaviors and a focus on the students’ futures will always be a priority. At the Academy, each student will feel supported, safe, and welcomed every day.

Students are assigned to courses based on their credit status and will be given a detailed schedule/calendar outlining assignments and due dates for each of their courses during the first week of school. It is expected that students work to finish their assigned semester-long courses prior to the end of the semester on January 22nd. Students are also expected to regularly log in at home and continue working in order to keep pace towards graduation.

Ongoing communication is crucial for student success. We will consistently reach out to families about Academy news, student progress and key dates. Please see the back of this letter for specific dates and details regarding the upcoming school year.

Sincerely,

Kyle Jamison

Director of the Fairfield Academy
