2018SUMMER TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The National Transportation Center at Morgan State University is now accepting applications for its 22nd annual Summer Transportation Institute (STI). The free STEM program isopen to students who will enter the 10th, 11th, or 12thgrade in September 2018. STI is a nonresidential program, and it will be held on Morgan’s campus from July2-July 27, 2018.

STI introduces participants to the many career opportunities available in the transportation industry. The program features four weeks of field trips, hands-on projects, and networking opportunities with industry professionals. The curriculum also features SAT prep and activities that promote self-awareness.

Students receive a full scholarship that covers the entire cost of attending the program, including all lab fees and field trips. Lunch and bus passes are also provided daily. In addition, each participant receives a $250 stipend upon completion of the program.

Participants must:

  • Be entering10th,11th, or 12thgrade for the 2018-2019school year.
  • Have completed or be qualified to enroll in Pre-algebra for the 2018-2019 school year.
  • Have at least a 2.5grade point average on a 4.0 scale (cumulative).
  • Have an interest in engineering-, science-, or technology – related career field.
  • Provide one letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor
  • Provide an official transcript and standardized test score(s)
  • Provide a 500-700 word essay that describes why he/she wants to participate in the program and how it can assist in meeting individual career goals. Essays must be typed and double-spaced.
