2018 Qualifying and Election Information

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-131(a)(1), the governing authority of Barrow County announces the following qualifying fees for the local offices to be filled in the 2018 Election Year:

Qualifying with a party will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. and ending Friday, March 9, 2018 at 12:00 Noon.

Republican Party qualifying will be held at Premier Broker’s, 20 N. Broad St. Winder; as follows

Monday – 9:00am – 1:00pm

Tuesday – 5:00pm – 8:00pm

Wednesday – 8:00am – 12:00 noon

Thursday – 5:00pm – 8:00pm

Friday – 8:00am – 12:00 noon

Democratic Party qualifying will be held at the Barrow County Elections Office, 233 E. Broad St. Winder; as follows

Monday – Thursday – 9:00am – 4:30pm

Friday – 9:00am – 12:00 noon

Independent Candidate qualifying will be held at the Barrow County Elections Office, 233 E. Broad St. Winder; as follows

Monday – Thursday – 9:00am – 4:30pm

Friday – 9:00am – 12:00 noon

General Primary Election is Tuesday, May 22, 2018

Advance Voting will be held at the Barrow County Elections Office located at 233 E. Broad St.

Monday, April 30th – Friday, May 18th | Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm each day.

Saturday Voting | May 12th, 9:00am – 4:00pm

Absentee Voting by Mail will begin April 3rd. Anyone who prefers to vote by mail should submit an application to the Elections Office either by mailing it to 233 E. Broad St Winder or via fax [770-307-1054] or bringing to the office. Anyone can obtain an application by going online to barrowga.org or call the Elections Office [770-307-3110] and request an application be mailed to them or complete an application in person at our office. All applications must be received no later than May 18th at 4:00pm. All voted ballots must be returned to our office before the polls close at 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

If anyone would like to become registered to vote and be eligible to vote in the General Primary, they should do so on or before April 23, 2018. Also, if anyone has moved or their name has changed, they should also update their voter registration on or before April 23, 2018. Citizens can go online to barrowga.org to register to vote or update their information. They may also complete an application in person at our office. You must at least 17 ½ yrs old to register to vote but 18 yrs old on or before election day to be eligible to cast a ballot, you must also be a United State Citizen and NOT serving a sentence for having been convicted of a felony.
