2018 Fond du Lac U8 Jamboree Rules
- Games will be played 4 X 4
- All games will be played with black pucks
- Blue and White level will play 3 games. Red level will play a bracket with a 3 game guarantee.
- Red and White level games must have goalies in full pads. No goalies will be allowed for the blue level games.
- Blue Level Games will be played Cross Ice; while Red and White level games will be played half ice.
- Blue level game will use “W” nets; Red and While level games will use USA Hockey U8 Cross Ice nets (not full size nets). Full size nets will not be used under any circumstance.
- Games will be 3 periods, with each period being 12 minutes in length.
- There will be a 2-minute warmup prior to the game.
- Rink B: The time in between periods will be 1 minute
- Rink A: There will be 1 minute between the first and second period, and 3 minutes between the second and third periods to support chuck-a-duck
- Horn will sound every 90 seconds for shift change.
- Red level games will have a referee on the ice.
- Referee will be solely responsible for keeping the score. After the game the referee will record the score. Recorded scores are final and not open for challenge.
- Score will be kept for Red level games only.
- One coach from each team should be on the ice to keep play moving and help enforce the rules.
- Exception: Red level does not need a coach on the ice.
- When entering the ice on a shift change, the players must skate around their net before playing the puck; even if that means skating past the puck.
- If a player is double shifting, they must also go around their net before playing the puck.
- RED Level will utilize the 2 puck method to keep the distance as equal as possible.
- When the goalie freeze the puck, the attacking team must retreat to center ice and wait until the defending team starting moving the puck up ice before attacking again.
- The puck can be advanced as soon as the goalie uncovers it. The players are not required to take a frozen puck around their net.
- After scoring a goal, the scoring team must touch, or go around, their net before playing the puck.
- After getting scored on, the team must remove the puck from their net and go behind their net with the puck, prior to advancing forward.
- Faceoff’s will only take place at the start of each period.
