2017Lady Pirate Soccer Contract

Rules and Policies

Academic Rules and Responsibilities

  1. Respect all teachers and administrators.
  2. You are expected to do your best in the classroom as well as on the field. Grades will be checked at every 3 weeks. Any player failing a class will be required to attend morning tutorials and brown bag lunch tutorials in my classroom until they are passing.
  3. You are something special at this school. An Athlete and a Lady Pirate. You will behave in class and be an example to others. CHARACTER COUNTS!
  4. Academically ineligible players cannot travel or sit with the team at games but will be expected to attend and perform at every practice.
  5. ANY PLACEMENT IN ISS WILL RESULT IN 300 YARDS OF UP-DOWNS PLUS A TIMED MILE (under 9 minutes. If this time is not made then they will do another 300 up downs) FOR EACH DAY ASSIGNED.
  6. Continued academic or discipline problems will result in parent-coach-athlete conference and possible removal from the program.

Community

  1. YOU ARE AN AMBASSADOR FOR THE SPORT OF SOCCER. You are the face of Women’s soccer in Granbury. Be a good example to younger kids and a source of pride to adults in this community. Help coach a team; involve yourself in giving back to the community.
  2. Service: Opportunities for Service as a team will be given throughout the year. Make yourself available to help out others!
  3. When we travel to other schools for competition, we must behave in ways that will only give people good impressions of our school and community. Athletes will be properly dressed at all times. Any athlete not in compliance will face running and/or possible suspension from that game.

Locker Room

  1. You will be assigned a locker in the Soccer Locker room. Because of numbers, you may be required to share lockers. Lock your lockers!
  2. DO NOT STEAL FROM YOUR TEAMMATES. Trust from your teammates is very valuable and very hard to regain when lost. Theft is grounds for dismissal from team.
  3. The maintenance staff at GHS is not your personal maid service. Clothes and gear will be in the lockers. No Clothes of any kind will be left out. The Locker room will be cleanly kept. Captains and Upperclassmen will check after every practice, during school, and after school when the season ends. A TRASHED LOCKER ROOM WILL RESULT IN THE ENTIRE TEAM RUNNING.
  4. No Hazing.
  5. Shoes and cleats need to be clean before entering the building. Stomp out side to get the mud off your cleats.
  6. White boards will not be written on by players unless permission is given. Resist ladies. Everyone runs if this is broken.

We have been given an incredible locker room. We will treat it like it is treasure. We will protect it! We will keep it clean! We will Preserve it!

Drama: Simple “Save your drama for your mama”

You are an athlete on a TEAM SPORT. It will be necessary for you to put on your big girl pants and learn to deal with others by forgiving them the slights they direct to you and they will have to forgive you your bad moments too. No one is more important than the team. No one can do it alone. We have to be able to have each other’s backs and to count on one another.

If there are problems between players

  1. We need to know if something is going on as soon as possible.
  2. There needs to be an attempt at solving the problem. TALK IT OUT. Don’t let it fester.
  3. If either party feels the need to meet with coaches then that will be done.
  4. IN NO CASE WILL YOU DISRESPECT YOUR TEAM, THE GAME, OR YOUR SCHOOL BY BRINGING YOUR PERSONAL ISSUES ONTO THE PRACTICE OR GAMEFIELD.
  5. Social Media will not be used to attack, denigrate, or gossip about anyone from the Soccer Program. Remember that you represent Lady Pirate Soccer Online as well.

Playing Time:

  1. There is a direct correlation between effort in practice and playing time on the field. Work hard, make it easy for the coach to play you and hard for the coach to pull you off the field.
  2. Playing time will NOT be discussed. The coach makes decisions regarding the team in the best interest of the team. With that said the PLAYER may approach the coach and ask what she can do to get better, improve, etc.

EFFORT CREATES ABIILITY!!!\

Field/Practice

  8. An unexcused absence during the week will result in no participation in the next game. Athlete will also complete 3 timed miles before returning to play.
  9. The second unexcused absence will result in no participation in the next two games and parent contact before allowed to play.
  10. BE A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON THE FIELD AND OFF. Keep a positive attitude towards soccer. SOCCER IS A TEAM SPORT. DO NOT SEPARATE YOUR SELF FROM YOUR TEAMMATES.
  11. Team sports require you to set aside your personal differences with a teammate for the interests of the team during practices and competitions. Go hard at every practice and remember that what happens on the field stays on the field and what happens off of the field stays off of the field. If we don’t go hard at practice then we are not challenging our team mates like they will be challenged in games against our opponents. We also are not preparing ourselves to play at the highest level.
  12. Wednesday is a normal day for practice. It may end early it may not. Saturday practices may be held depending on the need. If Saturday practices are held, they will be required of Varsity and Voluntary for JV.

  4. All injured players will attend games with the team unless excused by their Coach. (Extraordinary circumstances)
  5. Lady Pirate soccer players must leave the training room quickly and get to practice. Do not wait for your friend to get treated or to gab. Get your butt to practice. If this becomes a problem then notes from the trainer will be required. You are doing a disservice to the team when your team needs you to prepare for our matches. REMEMBER YOU CAN NOT LEAD FROM BEHIND.

Training Rules

  1. Smoking, drinking or use of any drugs will not be tolerated.
  2. Maintain good eating habits. Eat breakfast!!! During our athletic period you are operating on the energy from breakfast. At night games you are operating on the energy from lunch. No gas means no go. Miserable performance/ Miserable game.
  3. Go the extra mile to push your conditioning and strength.
  4. If you want to be better (play in college) you have to be stronger, faster, more skilled. Work hard to be the best athlete that you can be.

Gameday/ Game Field Policies

  1. Be on time (which means early) to the bus, warm-up, in the proper place, properly equipped. MAKE YOUR TEAM AND WINNING A PRIORITY!
  2. No boys will be allowed in or around the Pavilion or warm up area. Remember what we came to do. Focus on the prize.

  9. Only captains will talk to officials.
  10. Substitutions: Run on and off the field. Exchange penny.
  11. When you come off of the field you must slap hands with your teammates, get a bottle of water, and then speak with your coach.

LADY PIRATE SOCCER PLEDGE

No student athlete is obligated to take part in athletics, nor is it required for graduation. It should be noted that athletics is a privilege not a right. Since it is a privilege, the coach has the authority to revoke that privilege when the rules are not followed. The program is built around a group of talented individuals who must come together and function as a team in order to achieve victory and success for the Lady Pirate Soccer Program.
