2.00pm Monday 2nd October 2017 (presentation ceremony starts at 145pm)

IMPORTANT PLAYER AND TEAM ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

All teams and athletes are required to read and understand the WPA Team and Player Eligibility rules – which can be found of the WPA website.

Please note there will be NO exceptions to the approved eligibility rules including the domicile rule. Teams and players found to have breached or attempted to breach the rules will be excluded from the tournament with further sanctioning to be considered.

Tournament Timelines:

Entries Open: Friday 7thJuly 2017 – all forms and information will be available on the WPA web site.

Entries Close:Friday 28thJuly 2017 – forms must be submitted to your local state water polo association by close of business on this date – late entries will not be accepted. SSO’s must submit entry forms to WPA by Tuesday 1stAugust 2017.

Final Date for Payment:Thursday 31stAugust 2017 – payment must be received in the WPA account by this date or the team will be excluded from the championships.

Team Lists Due:Thursday 31stAugust 2017 – forms must be submitted to your local state water polo association by close of business on this date.

Closing Date for Draft requests and player submissions for the draft:Friday 1stSeptember 2017

Final Draw Issued:Monday 4thSeptember 2017

Draft Conducted:Monday 4thSeptember 2017 – 6.00pm (EST) for girls and 700pm (EST) for boys – draft will be conducted by teleconference.

National Seeding:

Note: where teams were on equal average points the team with higher ranked finishing position in any of the four tournaments was awarded the higher ranking – highlighted in yellow.

Tournament Structure:

QUALIFYING ROUND

6 groups of 3 teams and 2 groups of 4 teams – all teams will play a round robin within their group.

Group allocation:

At the end of the qualifying round teams will progress to the various groups based on their performance.

GROUP ROUND

Championship/Plate Groups:

Teams will play a round robin in the championship group. The top two teams in each group at the end of the round robin will progress to the Championship Quarter Finals and the 3rd and 4th placed teams in each group will progress to the Plate Quarter Finals.

Bowl/Shield Groups:

Teams will play a round robin in the bowl group. The top two teams in each group at the end of the round robin will progress to the Bowl Semi Finals and the 3rd, 4th and 5th placed teams in each group will progress to the Shield Quarter Finals.
