IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING FIELD MAINTENANCE, GAME INFORMATION AND CANCELLATIONS:

  1. The first team listed on all schedules will host each game, be the home team, and be responsible for field prep.
  2. The home team will also be responsible for field clean-up, including and not limited to: raking the field and filling in holes on/near the pitcher’s mound and batter’s box; cleaning out the dugouts entirely and making sure that all garbage is thrown away (that includes plastic bottles of water or Gatorade left behind); and making sure garbage is picked up around the outside of the field your team is on.
  3. PARENTS – This means that YOU have a responsibility as part of the Hayward Northwest Little League to help out! Coaches should not be responsible for all of the clean-up, as they are VOLUNTEERS working with YOUR player(s) to learn the game of baseball and important character building.
  4. COACHES - If sunflower seeds are going to be chewed in the dugouts, kids should use a cup to spit them in. Spitting seeds on the floor of the dugout makes a mess and we should be caring for and taking pride in our fields.
  5. Any ties in ranking order at the end of the regular season will be decided by a head-to-head game. If teams remain tied, a coin toss will determine higher ranking for tournament play.
  6. Games that have been cancelled due to rain (entire league wash-outs) will be announced on 92.3 WRLS FM between 4:30 AND 5:00 pm. If the weather is questionable, home field coaches should call the opposing coach and discuss canceling or playing. At many times, rain in Cable does not equal rain in Hayward. If there are still questions, please call the Hayward League President Kate Laier at 715-558-6187 and a decision will be made at that time.

*NOTE: All games in Hayward will be played at the Hayward Sports Center (Field #1 is the closest to the rink). To find Cable’s Field, take a left (to the west) on M (just past Rocky’s in Cable) and the field will be on the left hand (south) side.

Notes to Hayward Parents:

  1. Please be respectful of your coach. They are trying to do the best they can with large groups of 9 and 10-year-olds. They volunteered to step up and help; that alone deserves respect.
  1. Coaches love helpers. They will gladly accept someone who will organize snacks for the kids or rake the fields after games.
  2. New this year: players may keep their jerseys this year; however, players are responsible for purchasing a pair of gray baseball pants for games. Dunham’s in Rice Lake will give a 10% discount to any gray baseball pants purchased if Hayward Baseball is mentioned at the time of the purchase.

a)Matching team hats are not required at this age, but if you would like one for your child they are available at the concession stand for purchase. The concession stand will be open for all weekday game nights.

  1. Please, remember to sign up on time! The league never wants to turn away a kid that wants to play ball, but when people sign up late it, swells the size of our teams to an unmanageable level. We have to make team placementsin order to figure out how many teams to field at each level and to finalize a league schedule to begin playing. We make every effort to get the word out through radio announcements on WRLS, WHSM, in the Sawyer County Record, and a post by Jill on the Hayward Sports Center’s website very early in the year. Please feel free to go to as early as February of 2018 to see the sign-up dates for next year. The school no longer allows us to send home flyers, so please don’t assume that your child will bring you home a notice.
  2. Have fun and enjoy the games!
  3. Remember to turn in your ticket stubs for the league’s cash raffle. The drawings will take place on Tuesday June 27th. Only ticket stubs that are turned in (to Jill at the Sports Center or at the Little League Concession Stand) will have a chance to win.

Thank you,

Hayward Northwest Little League
