SCHEDULE:

Preliminarieson 16 Aug:8 teamsto be chosen from 7-round Swiss pairings for the knockout stage.

Finals on 17 Aug: 3 knockout rounds.

ALLOWANCE:

For seeded teams (up to 2 people per team):

Free accommodation. Travel allowances are specified as below:( ¥=RMB, $=US$ )

¥4,000 per person for Chinese teams(¥7,000 per person for Chinese Taipei);

$1,000 per person for Japanese and Korean teams;

$2,000 per person for European and American teams.

For non-seeded teams:

Self-paid accommodation and travel expense.

Bonus: travel allowance will be earned when entering semi-finalsas seeded teams.

Assignment of Seeds:

China 4,Japan 4,Europe 3, America 2, Korea 1,Chinese Taipei 1, Wild card 1.

PRIZE:

The championship trophy ismarked with the inscription "The 1st World AI Go Open Champion". The prize money (before tax) for top 12 teams islistedbelow:

HUMAN vs. AI:

"The 1st World AI Go Open Champion" will play against a top human professional on 18th Aug. An extra prize will be paid separately.

COMPETITION RULES:

1.The Chinese Rules (2002 Edition) setisused. The board size is 19 by 19. If a competitor is late (not present) after the initial 20 minutes of each round, the competitor will lose by forfeit by default.

2. Time control of 30 minutes sudden death is used in the preliminaries. The following factors will be taken into consideration in ranking:

a. the number of wins (Win = 1 point, Loss = 0 point, No result = 0.5 point);

b. theSum of one's Opponents' Scores (SOS);

c. the win and loss record between teams;

d. the highest rank of one’s opponents.

3. Time control of 30 minutes with 10 times 20-second Byoyomi is used in the knockout stage. The pairing is arranged in accordance with the preliminaryranking of the top 8 teams. Rematch will take place if there is a draw.

4.It is the responsibility of the participants to manage any remote operations issues. For example,time loss due to communicationdelay, re-connection or similar reasons will NOT be compensated. The organiser will not be responsible forany remote operations issues.

5. The games are played over TCP/IP with GTP.Each Go program must be “original” with accompanying source code; see also Registration (5) below. During a game, no “additional” human inputs to the Go program are allowed, and no “change” to the Go program is allowed.

REGISTRATION:

Please send the following information :

1. Name of the Go program;

2.Full name, nationality, of each of the authors of the Go program; if there is more than one author, also specify them in order of contribution to the program, and whether each person will attend this event (at least one person from the team is required to attend);

3. Contact person (e.g. the main author): (name, title, position, mobile number, email address).

4.Team name(if applicable). Otherwise the main author's name will be used to identify the team.

5. Technical descriptions of your Go program. For example, if your Go program incorporates other existing modules or libraries (e.g. open source code), or any original innovations, specify them here.

6. Please notify us in advance of any hardware, software, bandwidth, or power consumption requirements, etc.

7. Capability to play Go games via Ethernet connections with GTP protocol.

8. Information of your arrival and departure dates and times, any special dietary and accommodation requirements (e.g. vegetarian diet).
