ASENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND RECOGNIZE ALSHON JEFFERY FOR SHOWCASING A STUPENDOUS EXAMPLE OF ATHLETICISM IN SUPER BOWL LII AND FOR HELPING THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES TO THEIR FIRST EVER NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE SUPER BOWL WIN AND TO WISH HIM THE GREATEST SUCCESS THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF HIS PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL CAREER.

Whereas, the members of the Senate of South Carolina deem it altogether fitting and appropriate to pause in their deliberations to honor Alshon Jeffery, former football great from the University of South Carolina, for his stellar performance in Super Bowl LII; and

Whereas, on February 4, 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles made history by securing the franchise’s firstever Super Bowl win against the New England Patriots. Imperative to this success was Palmetto State son, Alshon Jeffery; and

Whereas, in the first quarter, Alshon started the momentum for the Eagles with an incredible thirtyfouryard catch in the end zone, scoring the game’s first touchdown. He went on to receive three passes for a total of seventythree yards; and

Whereas, last year, after coming off from a losing season with the Chicago Bears, Alshon predicted a Super Bowl win for 2018. As a free agent, he went on to sign with the Eagles and fulfill his prediction with the Eagles’ 4133 win over the Patriots; and

Whereas, during the regular season, Alshon’s impressive statistics included seven hundred thirtytwo yards and eight touchdowns on fiftytwo catches; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are proud of Alshon’s many accomplishments and for the prestige and honor he has brought to this great State. Furthermore, the memberswish Alshon the greatest of luck in all of his future endeavors and look forward to hearing of his achievements to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and recognize Alshon Jeffery for showcasing a stupendous example of athleticism in Super Bowl LII and for helping the Philadelphia Eagles to their first ever National Football League Super Bowl win and wish him the greatest success throughout the remainder of his professional football career.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Alshon Jeffery.
