A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE DORCHESTER ACADEMY GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON THEIR STELLAR SEASON AND TO SALUTE THEM FOR CAPTURING THE 2017 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (SCISA) CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, supremely ready for the challenge, the Dorchester Academy girls softball team played with great determination and spirit at the 2017 SCISA Class 1A State Championship, held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, and won the title and crown; and
Whereas, the Lady Raiders made school history in winning the program’s first fastpitch state title with a 73 gamethree win against Wardlaw Academy at Cardinal Newman School in Columbia; and
Whereas, playing with passion, the Lady Raiders scored five runs across the first two innings to build a lead that was never challenged in the championship match, with the result that Dorchester Academy took wins in the final two games of the bestofthree series; and
Whereas, by the time the players had claimed the crown, Dorchester fans were already making plans to return next year to see their team repeat the feat, every supporter rejoicing that the majority of the squad returns next season, with only four players graduating; and
Whereas, head coaches Jack Reeves and Kim Reeves drew on their own considerable talents and skills, molded their team members into champions, and proudly watched their players hoist the title trophy; and
Whereas, the journey to winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and teamwork, qualities that always will serve these young women well both on and off the field. With admiration, the House recognizes and applauds the outstanding work of the Dorchester Academy girls softball team and wishes its members much continued success in all their future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Dorchester Academy girls softball team, coaches, and school officials on their stellar season and salute them for capturing the 2017 South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Class 1A State Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of School Roger Duffel and Head Coaches Jack Reeves and Kim Reeves of Dorchester Academy.
