A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE DR. JAMES E. WISEMAN ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS TWENTYFIVE YEARS OF OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP TO THE NEWBERRY OPERA HOUSE FOUNDATION, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS TO COME.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to recognize and honor Dr. James E. Wiseman, who has served with great distinction as founding chairman of the Newberry Opera House since 1994; and
Whereas, one of South Carolina’s premier performing arts centers, the Newberry Opera House was recognized in 2008 as the Finest Theater in America by the League of Historic American Theaters; and
Whereas, as one of the prime movers of the rebirth and renaissance of the City and County of Newberry, Dr. Wiseman was the visionary leader and guiding spirit behind the restoration of the Opera House and has been the guiding hand behind its operation; and
Whereas, a native of Newberry, Dr. Wiseman graduated from the University of South Carolina and obtained a D.M.D. degree from the University of Louisville. A retired dentist and member of the SC Dental Association, Dr. Wiseman is past president of the Central District Dental Society and past president of the SC Academy of Practice Administration. He has frequently been published in national medical and dental journals; and
Whereas, Dr. Wiseman is the recipient of many awards, including the Governor’s Rural Summit Award, Woodrow Wilson Award, Order of the Palmetto, the SC Dental Association’s Citizenship Award, and the SC Downtown Development Award; and
Whereas, a community leader, Dr. Wiseman is a former councilman of the Newberry City Council and a former vice chair of the Board of Trustees of the Medical University of South Carolina; and
Whereas, Dr. Wiseman has enriched the lives of the residents of the Newberry community and the State of South Carolina, who appreciate his contributions, leadership, and many achievements. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
Thatthe members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. James E. Wiseman, commend him for his twentyfive years of outstanding leadership to the Newberry Opera House Foundation, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years to come.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. James E. Wiseman, Jr.
