2017-18 Southwest Section Memorial Scholarship Awardees

The Southwest Section AWWA reviewed six scholarship applicants for three $1,000 scholarship awards in late summer. The Scholarship Committee, consisting of Johnny Nichols, Rick Pulverenti and Donna Skidmore, awarded those scholarships to Jacqueline Mosely, Kathryn Motherwell and Micah Overstreet.
Ms. Mosely is the daughter of Danny and Lisa Adams of Mabelvale, AR. Danny serves as the Water Treatment Plant and Production Superintendent of the Sardis Water Association. Jacqueline graduated from the Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts in Hot Springs, AR in 2015 and is currently attending Henderson State University and is taking classes needed for a career in forensic chemistry.
Ms. Motherwell is the daughter of Adam and Kimberly Motherwell of Fayettevillel, AR. Adam serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Beaver Water District in Lowell, AR. Kathryn is a 2017 graduate of Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville, AR and just started classes at the University of Arkansas pursuing a Pre-Med curriculum, with a career goal of becoming a pharmacist.
Ms. Overstreet is the daughter of Tim and Angel Overstreet of Hensley, AR. Tim is an Engineering Technician with Central Arkansas Water. Micah completed her high school studies at Sheridan High School in 2015, and has been attending Ouachita Baptist University since 2015. She is taking classes now to help her teach English as a second language to those in need.
The author also wants to acknowledge that all three scholarship awardees sent nice thank you notes for the award. I am confident that the Southwest Section’s Scholarship Committee chose well.
You will note that all three of our scholarship awardees are from the state of Arkansas. While we try to give scholarships to at least one student in each state, this year’s applicants were all from Arkansas.
