2017-18Scholarship Application

The Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Committee of Casa Grande is awarding educational scholarships for a maximum of $1,000 for the 2017-18 school year. Applications can be submitted by the following methods:

  1. Mail to Jeff Lavender at 574 E. Lakeside Parkway, Casa Grande, AZ 85122. The application must be postmarked by February 3, 2017.
  2. Scan to . The application must be e-mailed before midnight on February 3, 2017.
  3. Hand deliver to Jeff Lavender at Villago Middle School, 574 E. Lakeside Parkway, by 5:00 p.m. on February 3, 2017.

Eligibility:

The applicant must be acurrent Pinal County resident, senior in high school, and complete all of the requirements listed below.

Payment of scholarship funds is contingent upon satisfactory proof of acceptance and enrollment in a post-secondary institution.

Requirements:

  1. Completed application
  2. Attach the following:
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation: one from a teacher, counselor or principal from your current school and the second from a community member.
  • A photocopy of your current high school transcript
  • Typed essay on “How I have applied and intend to apply the Core Values of Cesar Chavez.” The minimum is 500 words and the maximum is 600 words.

I certify the information in this 2017-18application is correct. I am also a legal resident of Pinal County. And, I also understand that if awarded a Cesar Chavez Scholarship, I pledge to complete five hours of community service or make a donation of 50 cans to a local food bank before the funds will be dispersed.The five hours, or donation, must be done after March 10, 2017. I give the Cesar Chavez Committee permission to contact me in the future to see how I am doing in school and how the scholarship has impacted me.
