Judging and Selection Process and Criteria

Judging Process

  1. Submissions are to be collected by the Sector Diversity Action Council/Diversity & Inclusion Action Council or Be-A-Star Representative. Each Sector Councilor Committee will select and declare their Sector’s winner based on the criteria provided.
  2. Once a winner has been chosen, the Sector Diversity Action Council/Diversity & Inclusion Action Councilor Be-A-Star Committee will send the winning submission to:

no later than Friday, July 15, 2016for entry into the North American judging.

  1. A diverse panel of impartial judges will review and determine who is recognized as the Compass Group North American Five Jewel Award winner. The North American winner will not be announced until the Be-A-Star National Awards celebration (Compass Night of Stars) in October. The Chief Executive Officer and/or Chief Inclusion Officer will announce the winner of the Five Jewel Award at the celebration.

Key elements of judging for the 2016 Five Jewel Award for Best Practices in Diversity & Inclusion are:

  • Level of PARTICIPATONby the team
  • Level of PARTNERSHIPwith client, non-company groups/agencies, community organizations, other internal units/departments, teams.
  • 2016 Five Jewel Award CRITERIAmet
  • Overall impact as a RESULTof the project/submission (Sustainable? Transferable?)
  • Unique WOW FACTOR of submission or submission content/concept.

The followingjudging criteria and form can be used by the Sector Diversity Action Council/Diversity & Inclusion Action Council or Be-A-star Committee for the choosing their sector winner. The total possible score is 60 points.

  • Were all levels ofassociates engaged? Did the event/activity/submission engage a large percentage of the associate population?

Partnering Possible Score: 10 points

  • Did the team collaborate with other units/departments/teams, their client(s) or non-company/communitygroups?

Criteria Possible Score: 10 points

  • Does the submission meet the criteria outlined for the 2016 Five Jewel Award?

Result Possible Score: 20 points

  • How well did the activity address and showcase diversity?Is there evidence of an inclusive workplace environment?
  • Were the overall goals of the project achieved? Is it sustainable? Is it transferable?

Unique “WOW” factor Possible Score: 10 points

  • Is the submission and/or concept highlighted in the submission creative and original.
