2016 Work Plan Development Work Group

Charter

PURPOSE

The WECC MAC is sponsoring the 2016 Work Plan Development work group. The 2016 Work PlanDevelopment work group will lead the MAC effort to develop the proposed scope of deliverables and schedule for the work the MAC will commit to complete in calendar year 2016. The 2016 Work Plan Development work group will prepare a draft work plan and submit to the full MAC for approval. The 2016 Work Plan Development work group will brief the MAC on a regular and consistent basis, on the progress towards completion of deliverables and issues identified that may hamper the work. The 2016 Work Plan Development work group will actively seek input from the MAC to ensure the 2016 Work Plan adequately covers the high priority items as determined by the MAC.

The 2016 Work Plan Development work group will be disbanded upon completion of thework plan and its subsequent approval by the MAC.

SCOPE OF WORK

The work group will incorporate:items identified in the MAC charter; ongoing items such as review of the budget and business plan; elements of approved Section 4.9 Review changes that pertain to the MAC; recommendations from the 2015 MAC Effectiveness Survey; policy and strategy topics as identified by WECC Executive; other topics as may be relevant for 2016 that support reliability and add value.

DELIVERABLE

The work group will deliver the 2016 work plan for MAC approval as identified in the scope of work above.

SCHEDULE

MAC October Meeting (10/31/15) – presentation of initial draft of 2016 work plan

MAC December Meeting (12/1/15) – presentation of final draft of 2016 work plan

MAC January Meeting (1/xx/16) – approval of 2016 work plan

WORK GROUP APPROACH

The work group will review documents that may identify topics for consideration for 2016 (e.g. 4.9 review documentation) and create a list of potential deliverables. These will be listed on a template and presented to the MAC for discussion. A final list of deliverables will then be prepared for MAC approval.

No additional WECC staff support is required.

COMMUNICATION

The 2016 Work Plan Development work group will provide updates to and request input from the MAC at each regularly scheduled MAC meeting until the work group is disbanded. The MAC will provide regular updates to and seek input from the Membership on proposed MAC priorities during the development of the work plan.

CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES

Challenges for the 2016 Work Plan Development work group will be related to determining the highest priority items the MAC should address taking into account the resources available. Importantly, the work group will assess how the MAC work plan will result in an increased focus on reliability.
