2016 Rail+Metro China: ContiTech Presents Diverse Solutions

·  Hydro bushing with fluid medium increases service life of wheels and rails

·  Rubber-cushioned wheel minimizes material wear and tear in public transport

·  Robust concertina wall materials withstand rail vehicle mechanical stresses longer

·  Railway hoses are fireproof, resistant to ozone and UV rays and have long lifespan, ensuring safe railway operation

Shanghai, June 2016. Be it in public transport, large metropolises, or long-distance transportation across the whole of the country – rail transport in China is growing steadily and assuming an important role in the country's transport network. With an enhanced product range, the international industry partner ContiTech is now offering rail vehicle manufacturers in the Chinese market new rubber and plastics solutions at 2016 Rail+Metro China from June 14 to 16, 2016. ContiTech will be presenting new solutions from three business units at W5, Stand S75.

Hydro bushing and rubber-cushioned – further reduce vibrations and disruptive noises

With its air spring systems for bogies, ContiTech is one of the world's leading suppliers to the rail vehicle industry. One of the new products featured in the range for the Chinese market is the hydro bushing. What is unique about this is that the component has two chambers in a longitudinal direction, which contain a fluid medium. Its special design means that the hydro bushing possesses exceptionally strong damping properties in a longitudinal direction. "When integrated into rail vehicles, the component reduces wear and tear, increasing the service life of wheels and rails alike. This is a major advantage – especially in countries with a track access charge," explains Axel Terbeck, Director of ContiTech Air Spring Systems in China.

Another new addition to the product range is the rubber-cushioned wheel, whose advantages come into play predominantly in public transport in both urban and suburban and rapid transit rail vehicles. It minimizes impacts that would otherwise be transferred from the rails to the chassis, thus allowing the wheel's bushing to reduce material wear and tear between the wheels and the rails. It also enhances comfort and allows vehicles to operate with low noise production.

Concertina wall materials – durable even in long-term use

ContiTech's product range also includes concertina wall materials, which connect carriages together. In China, they are already successfully integrated on board high-speed and metro trains. High demands are placed on these materials. This is why ContiTech concertina wall materials are especially hard-wearing and weatherproof. In line with customer requirements, ContiTech offers a number of designs in the colors gray and black made from a variety of elastomers including CSM rubber and silicon, which can be between 0.8 and 3 mm thick. The patented silicon concertina wall materials are characterized by their high fire resistance.

ContiTech also offer diverse flexible mega tanks allowing holding capacities up to 300,000 liters, flexible lightweight containers employed to temporarily store and transport various mediums, liquids and air filled transportation cushions to avoid any movement of goods during transportation in Rail and Non-rail Vehicles.

Railway hoses – Fireproof, Resistant to ozone and UV rays, Long lifespan

ContiTech have a comprehensive range of railway hoses, including hose for potable water, cable protection hose, brake hose, pneumatic hose, hydraulic hose for railway maintenance, fuel hose for transferring of biodiesel and other extensive products. For example, hose for potable water is in compliance with KTW (Contact with Drinking Water) “Pipes” guideline and DVGW W270 from the gas and water industry certification body. Its lining is absolutely neutral to odor and it also has a fire protection and smoke gas toxicity certificate according to DIN 5510-2. The cable protection hose has smooth lining and can withstand the volt up to 1011. It also meets the requirements of DIN 45545-2 and 5510-2. The brake hose is mainly applied in brake systems, which is an ideal security guard in the railway operation.
