2016 Fo Guang Shan International Triple Platform Full Ordination Ceremony

A. Objective:

To transmit the precepts as taught by the Buddha so that monastics may be fully ordained, to promote the quality of the Sangha, and to strengthen education on Buddhist etiquette.

B. Characteristics:

1. Precept Teachers－Monastic elders from Taiwan and abroad, presiding over the

ceremony and transmit the teachings of the sutras and vinaya.

2. Precept Platform－The only platform in Taiwan that is solely used to transmit precepts. All preceptees are to follow a rigorous and strict daily routine.

3. Precept Curriculum－Classes that emphasize both theory and practice.

C. Eligibility:

Monastic Precepts: Buddhist disciples with right view and faith, are complete in the six faculties and studying under a master, who vow to uphold the monastic precepts. (Ages 20 to 65)

D. Precept Period:

Monastic Precepts－November 5th to 28th, 2016

E. Location: Fo Guang Shan Monastery, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, R.O.C.

F. Fees:

1. All expenses covered for monastics.

2. Precept robes (kasayas), alms-bowl, sitting-mat (nisidana), meals, and accommodation are sponsored by Fo Guang Shan Monastery.

3. Preceptees are responsible for their own black chanting robe (haiqing) and arhat shoes.

G. Registration Deadline:

1. All applications must be submitted by September 15th, 2016.

2. Location: Fo Guang Shan Headquarters and Branch Temples

H. Application Requirements:

1. A completed application form (online or paper)

2. Copy of passport and ID

3. 4 recent passport size photos (2.5 in)

4. Copy of medical exam and health report

5. Acceptance letters will be sent upon approval of application.
