HOURS: Camp hours are between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM FOR 3 DAY CAMPS and 9-4pm FOR 1 DAY CAMPS. All campers should plan to arrive on time and need to be picked up at the close of camp each day in a timely manner. Please be courteous. Staff members have other responsibilities caring for the farm and teaching riding lessons and we are not responsible for watching your child outside of the schedule camp hours.
CANCELLATIONS:Cancellation rules apply to ALL camp sessions. If you cancel, we will attempt to fill your camper’s space with another camper from our waiting list and your money will be refunded less a $75.00 deposit fee. If we are unable to fill your space, your deposit and full amount will be forfeited. With a written and signed Doctor’s excuse, all money paid less deposit may be applied to next year’s summer camp.
FOOD: Please provide a sack lunch each day. We will provide bottled water. Campers may bring additional beverages- water, juice, sports drinks, non-carbonated drinks are recommended. NO GLASS CONTAINERS, PLEASE! A refrigerator is available and a drinking fountain is on site.
CLOTHING: Campers will need to wear long pants, such as riding breeches, jeans, or stretch pants, t-shirt, and appropriate protective footwear. Boots with heels are preferable. Tennis shoes are allowed for non-riding activities, but not for the riding portion of the camp. No sandals, thongs, slip-on or open toed shoes are allowed in the barn. If a child is sent to camp in open toed shoes, they will not be able to participate in many of the camp activities. If a child is sent to camp without the proper pants and footwear, he/she will not be allowed to ride. This is for the safety and the comfort of your child. We recommend that you label all personal belongings.
HELMETS: Riders are required to wear an ASTM-SEI approved helmet while riding. If your camper does not have a helmet, one will be provided.
We recommend your child bring the following additional items:
Sun screen and bug spray, towel, change of clothes (shoes and socks, and shorts for non-riding activities.) Carrots and apples for the horses, old bread for the chickens are always welcome, and provide fun for the children feeding the animals!
LAKE FOREST STABLES CAMP CURRICULUM
Our camp program consists of daily group riding instruction for all students, as well as a structured “classroom” type session as well as many fun activities. Our goal is not only to help the student improve their riding skills, but to provide a foundation of understanding as to why we do things a certain way in the practice of horsemanship. Students will also learn what is involved in owning and caring for a horse, and will be expected to assist with activities such as grooming, bathing, feeding, barn chores, and related activities.

FACILITY RULES (Return)
1. Practice common sense and safety at all times:
2. No running, yelling, or roughhousing in the barn and around the horses.
3. Be respectful: follow the directions of the instructors and their staff.
4. NEVER walk away from a horse that is tacked up. Always attend to your mount.
5. Use cross-ties and lead ropes properly. NEVER attach a rope directly to the bridle.
6. Use halters over the bridle and apply properly including using a safety knot to tie a horse if it must be left unattended.
7. Use the available twine on posts to tie your horse in the barn. Do not tie directly to wood structures.
8. Do not leave your equipment in the barn isle, stall, or wash rack.
9. Never use equipment that is not yours without asking permission. (It may belong to a boarder).
10. Clean and put equipment away properly including tack, grooming supplies, buckets, etc. after use.
11. Please clean the wash rack after you have used it.
12. NEVER put a horse in a stall tacked-up without properly securing the horse with an instructor’s help.
13. NEVER tie a horse to anything that is not stationary, such as stall doors, gates, paddock fencing, etc.
14. ALWAYS clean up after yourself and your horse. This includes dirt, droppings, hair, etc. Clean-up equipment is available. Please ask the manager or a staff member.
15. Please clean your own tack and put it away after you have ridden.
16. ABSOLUTE NO CHASING HORSES.
17. ABSOLUTELY NO HITTING OTHER ANIMALS.
18. Be courteous and polite at all times. Foul, abusive, and/or demeaning language is not tolerated.
19. Be kind to others. Teasing, demeaning, or other mistreatment of other riders, guests or staff is not permitted or to be tolerated.
20. NO SMOKING - Smoking is not allowed on the premises.
21. RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
22. Proper riding clothes and attire must be worn when riding: Long pants and socks, boots with heels, no excessive jewelry, and helmet is required.
23. All riders are required to wear an ASTME-SEI approved riding helmet at all times when mounted. Bike helmets are not allowed.
24. Open toed shoes, sandals, or flip-flops are not allowed in the barn. You will be asked to leave the barn if you are wearing this kind of footwear. This is FOR YOUR SAFETY!
25. No riding without permission and supervision.
26. No jumping without supervision on the property.
27. Facility horses are never to be ridden without the manager’s permission.
28. No unsupervised children are allowed at the facility.
29. Guests are allowed with the permission of Management.
30. No dogs are allowed on the premises without Management’s permission.
31. No guests are allowed to ride a horse without completing a release form. No guest may ride a facility horse without Management’s permission.
32. No glass bottles on the premises, please!
33. Use properly designated trash disposal containers for the disposal of trash.
34. PLEASE INSURE THAT ALL STALL DOORS AND GATES ARE PROPERLY CLOSED AND SECURED SO THAT HORSES OR OTHER LIVESTOCK CANNOT GET OUT.
35. PLEASE REPORT ANY INJURY TO A HORSE, RIDER, ANIMAL, OR ANY OTHER UNSAFE CONDITION TO THE MANAGER OR STAFF IN ATTENDANCE IMMEDIATELY.
