What Is The Importance Of This Award?

As an assurance of the quality of the most outstanding graduates from Duquesne University’s School of Education, the School has initiated a program to designate a limited number of truly outstanding students as School of Education’s Teaching Fellows.

The School of Education recognizes that each of our students take upon themselves a very meticulous schedule and lifestyle when committing to their individual program, and we would like to honor those who have risen above and made a significant difference in the Duquesne community.

What Are The Benefits Of This Award?

The School of Education’s Teaching Fellows will be selected after a rigorous application and screening process. Those designated as School of Education’s Teaching Fellows will enjoy the following benefits:

·  School of Education’s Teaching Fellows will be recognized in School publicity and may use the Fellows designation in seeking employment and promotions.

·  The School of Education will contact any school district in support of the candidacy of any Fellow who is in the finalist stage of interviews for a teaching position.

Who Is Eligible For This Award?

For individuals who have completed, or will complete, School of Education Bachelor’s degrees:

·  A minimum 3.40 overall GPA and a minimum 3.75 GPA in all education coursework.

·  A “superior” rating on mid-term and “exemplary” rating on final student teaching evaluations (PDE 430).

·  Passing scores on all Praxis/PECT exams required for a candidate’s Pennsylvania certification.

For individuals who have completed, or will complete, School of Education Masters degrees:

·  A minimum 3.25 overall GPA on your undergraduate degree transcript, and a 3.90 GPA in all graduate education coursework at the School of Education.

·  A “superior” rating on mid-term and “exemplary” rating on final student teaching evaluations (PDE 430).

·  Passing scores on all Praxis/PECT exams required for a candidate’s Pennsylvania certification.
