RACE 1 – KEITH STANLEY DEBUTANTE STAKES – 1680 METRES

SWAP ME raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the event.

KARALTA MISHAP hung in and contacted the marker pegs entering the home straight on the first occasion.

ROCKNROLL TURBO had a tendency to hang in throughout the event.

RACE 2 – DECRON HORSE CARE STAKES – 2200 METRES

TAMBROS MILLY was held up for clear racing room early in the home straight.

GUESSTAMATE was held up for clear racing room early in the home straight.

HEY JO pulled hard throughout the race.

CHICA BELLA hung out under pressure over the concluding stages.

THE SYSTEM BLACK broke after the start and will continue to be placed outside the mobile draw.

TELL MIA STORY hung out racing out of the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion.

RACE 3 – PARRY PROPERTY PACE – 2200 METRES

SOHO SHANGHAI was declared a late scratching at 1.55pm acting on a confirmed telephone call fromtrainer Rohan Hillier who explained that the colt had swelling in both hind legs. SOHO SHANGHAI has been stood down for a period of 28 days which may be varied upon production of a veterinary certificate as to the reasons for the scratching.

STRIKER JIM underwent a veterinary inspection when the colt arrived on course after traveling poorly in the float. STRIKER JIM was passed suitable to race.

No action was taken against driver Paul Hill(HILLVIEW JAKE) for the slow first half in this event as the lead time was significantly quicker than average and the lead also changed in the first half of the last mile.

CARDINAL FINN and MASTER PAIGE hung out after the start.

HILLVIEW JAKE raced rough in the score up and broke in the score up before regaining its position. It has now been placed on its last chance in the draw.

METRO MOUSE was out of position due to the racing manners of HILLVIEW JAKE therefore no action was taken against METRO MOUSE.

HIT THE LIGHTS tired from the 500 meters to be beaten 85 meters. The gelding will now be placed on its last chance to race truly.

RACE 4 – MEMBERS STAKES – 2200 METRES

CARD SHARK KIWI tired from the 400 meters to be beaten 63 meters. The horse will be placed on its last chance to race truly.

BOUTIQUE ART‘sdriver Ben Parker was reprimanded for failing to maintain his position during the score up.

WEALTHY WARRIOR’s driver Shane Boon was reprimanded for failing to maintain his position at the start.

STINGOFASCORPION who hung out in the score up, raced rough in the score up and also raced rough after the start will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

ME MATE LES was inconvenienced in the score up when STINGOFASCORPION hung out. Stewards were of the opinion that ME MATE LES had the opportunity to regain its position prior to the start being effected and reminded driver Lyarna Graham of her obligation to make sufficient effort to be in position.

SIGN OF ORO tired from the 400 meters and underwent a post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and be coughing. Trainer Ben Yole advised that the gelding would undergo a course of treatment before again racing.

BOUTIQUE ART’s driver Ben Parker was queried in regards to the reasons why it took him nearly a lap to restrain his mount back into the running line. Mr Parker explained that the mare had a tendency to pull hard and failed to respond to his efforts to restrain.

RACE 5 – LONGFORD EQUINE CLINIC PACE DIVISION ONE –1680 METRES

ONE MANS PASS broke approaching the first turn. The gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Rounding the home turn driver Rodney Ashwood (LA FORCE) attempted to activate the removable earplugs with the cord breaking as he did so and as a result LAFORCE shifted out.

RACE 6 – ELDERSLIE HORSE CARE PACE – 2200 METRES

REAL RIVER underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as the horse had not competed for in excess of 12 months.

REAL RIVER shifted out when under pressure over the concluding stages.

CISKEI broke after the start and will now be placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

CRANBRE driver John Walters reported that the gelding sustained a flat tyre racing around the first turn.

RACE 7 – TASMANIAN MEDICAL LABORATORIES STAKES – 2200 METRES

STRANGE CONDUCT broke free of interference rounding the first turn. The gelding will be placed on its last chance to race truly.

PUSHKIN NZ was held up for clear racing room in the home straight.

JEAN BAPTISTE NZ which led the event and pulled hard commenced to weaken from the 600 meter mark and as a result IM FULL TILT NZ was momentarily inconvenienced. JEAN BAPTISTE NZ was beaten 32 meters and a post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

RACE 8 – SUNRISE BAKERY STAKES – 2200 METRES

OUTBACK MACH driver Rohan Hadley was issued a reprimand for failing to be in position at the candy pole.

PHILTRA PHELLA driver Taylor Ford was fined the sum of $200 for failing to come up into position.

TRULY BLISSFULL pulled hard in the early stages before obtaining the lead.

RACE 9 – ROBERTS EQUINE SUPPLIERS DIVISION TWO – 1680 METRES

CARDINAL SPEC underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after traveling poorly in the float. CARDINAL SPEC was passed suitable to race.

The start of this race was delayed 2 minutes due to Gloucester Park race 2 running behind schedule.

CARDINAL SPEC broke and galloped excessively on two occasions and has been stood down for 10 days and 1 satisfactory trial. The gelding underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent abnormalities could be detected.

VANDE VELDE driver Christian Salter was issued with a reprimand under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action. Christian Salter was also reprimanded under AR 168(1)(a), careless driving in that he dropped a rein near the winning post.

RACE 10 – MITAVITE CLAIMER – 2200 METRES

SKY TOWER galloped out and has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

A false start was called on the first occasion when SKY TOWER broke through the front line tape. A short delay then occurred as the front line tape had to be replaced.

LUCKY DAVE NZ galloped out at the start and will now be placed outside the draw.

MY GREEK MATE broke with approximately 900 meters to go as the gelding made contact with thehopple shortener cord that was trailing behind PACIFIC SOUL NZ.

RAJAH WEALTH was claimed by Troy Hillier and Dean Hinds.

RACE 11 – CHARTLEY ESTATE DIVISION THREE – 1680 METRES

ALTUGO FRANCO was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside the field in mobile events.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for RAINBOW PHOENIX breaking near the 300 meter mark. After taking evidence from drivers Keith Toulmin (RAINBOW PHOENIX) and Todd Rattray (CAMPAIGN DRIVE) Stewards charged driver Keith Toulmin for careless driving in that RAINBOW PHOENIX had made contact with the wheel of CAMPAIGN DRIVE whilst attempting to trail that gelding in the three wide position. After taking into account Mr Toulmin’s good record and the level of interference stewards issued a reprimand.

An inquiry was held into the reasons for BYMARJAC breaking with approximately 900 meters to go. Evidence was taken from Chris Viney (ART EDITION), Ben Parker (BYMARJAC), Taylor Ford (WESTERN DESTROYER) and Todd Rattray (CAMPAIGN DRIVE). After taking evidence from all drivers it was established that WESTERN DESTROYER hung in abruptly making contact with BYMARJAC and as a result BYMARJAC broke and the WESTERN DESTROYER shifted away from that gelding and made contact with RAINBOW PHOENIX. WESTERN DESTROYER has been placed on its last chance to race truly. BYMARJAC was examined by the on- course veterinarian and was found to have superficial abrasions to its off hindleg.

ALTUGO FRANCO was out of position at the start and will continue to be drawn outside the field in future mobile events.

GENERAL

Driver Sam Freeman was questioned in regards to FAITHFUL JET breaking soon after the start at Carrick on 27 December 2015 in race 8. After tacking evidence from Miss Freeman and viewing the official replays Stewards were of the opinion that whilst FAITHFUL JET was racing ungenerously and Miss Freeman attempted to straighten her drive, however the horse ducked in and made contact with the wheel of RECKLESS ABANDON.
