Adjourned Inquiry – Tasmanian Turf Club 16 December 2015
RACE 5 – TASMANIAN BAKERIES BENCHMARK 82 HANDICAP – 1600 METRES
Stewards tonight concluded an inquiry into the reasons Settler’s Joy (K Maskiell) clipped the heels of Gee Gee’s La Quita and fell near the 400 metres. It was established that Settler’s Joy attempted a run to the inside of Gee Gee’s La Quita where there was insufficient room. Whilst attempting to improve to the inside of Gee Gee’s La Quita that mare shifted in away from Oerter (D Pires) which shifted in slightly at that point resulting in Settler’s Joy clipping the heels of Gee Gee’s La Quita and falling. Kyle Maskiell was reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding and notified that he must ensure there is sufficient room when attempting to take runs when in similar circumstances. David Pires was notified that he must ensure that he keeps mounts straight as not to contribute to interference. As Stewards could not apportion blame to either David Pires or Kyle Maskiell, they took no further action.
