Rules for GHS Spring Flower Show
· Judging will follow Horticultural Judging and Exhibiting Standards (Publication #34/2003).
· An exhibitor must be a member of the Gloucester Horticultural Society (except Juniors).
· A member may enter one entry in each class, unless otherwise stated.
· The Society supplies containers and cover sleeves.
· All exhibits must be grown by the exhibitor except in the decorative classes where materials may be obtained from any source.
· An entry will not necessarily be awarded a prize if judged below standard.
· The decision of the judge is final. Any inquiries should be directed to the Show Chair.
· No exhibit is to be removed before time stated.
· Entries will be received between times stated only.
· Potted plants must have been under the exhibitor's care for a minimum of three months prior to the show. Potted plants should be groomed and in clean pots that are in scale with your plant.
· All potted plants found to be infested with insects/diseased will be disqualified by the Show Chair.
· “Cache” or outer pots may be used as long as they are unobtrusive (as per page 25 of Publication #34/2003).

Class 1. Red, scarlet or crimson, 1 stem (People's Choice Award, judged by public only)
Class 2. Yellow, 1 stem
Class 3. Pink, rose or salmon, 1 stem
Class 4. Mauve, purple, 1 stem
Class 5. White, 1 stem
Class 6. Orange, 1 stem
Class 7. Bi-colour, 1 stem
SECTION B: Other Tulip Types
Class 8. Lily-flowering, 1 stem
Class 9. Parrot, 1 stem
Class 10. Double, 1 stem
Class 11. Fringe, 1 stem
Class 12. Multi-flowering, 1 stem
Class 13. Triumph, 1 stem

Class 16. Trumpet Narcissus, 1 stem (trumpet or cone as long as or longer than the perianth segments, one flower per stem, 1 cultivar)
Class 17. Specialty Narcissus, 1 stem (where the centre is double, e.g. Ice King, Petit Four)
Class 18. Pink Narcissus, 1 stem (where the trumpet is in shades of pink)
Class 19. Multi-flowering Narcissus, 1 stem (branching stem with multiple blooms)
Class 20. Small Cup Narcissus, 1 stem
Class 21. Double Narcissus, 1 stem
Class 22. Split Cup Narcissus, 1 stem (where the trumpet or cone is split and flattened out)
Class 23. Hyacinth, 1 stem (full size bulb only)

Class 43. An Outdoor Planter – Filled with rooted plants that complement each other, not to exceed (16 W x 28H inches)
Class 44. Tea for Me – Re-purpose an old tea pot with a design of spring flowers.
Class 45. Best Special Exhibit in Show Classes 43 - 44 (Prize: $5.00)
DIVISION III: Decorative – “Fresh New Beginnings”
(Prizes: 1st - $5.00, 2nd - $3.00, 3rd - $2.00)
(Fresh materials from any source can be used for classes 46-49.)
Class 46. Lush and Beautiful – An arrangement of spring flowers in full bloom.
Class 47. By the Lake – A water viewing design with stones permitted.
Class 48. Company is Coming – A design for an entrance hall to greet your guests, (not to exceed 24 inches)
Class 49. Mixing Old with New – An arrangement featuring an old piece of wood (recycled or weathered) with flowers and greenery.
Class 50. Champion Decorative: Classes 46 – 49 (Prize: $5.00)
DIVISION IV: Junior Spring Flowers (Prizes: 1st - $3.00, 2nd - $2.00, 3rd - $1.00)
Age of Junior is required on the entry tag.
Class 51. Tulip, your favourite pink
Class 52. Tulip, any other colour
Class 53. Narcissus, 1 stem
Class 54. Double Narcissus, 1 stem
Class 55. Any other flower from your garden, 1 stem (e.g. Grape Hyacinth)
