RWE Mission…………..5 / Letter from the Chairs
Dr. Tonya Perry Dr. Dana Christman
Dear RWE Members,
As co-chairs of the AERA SIG, Research on Women and Education, we are delighted that you are a member of this wonderful group dedicated to learning, networking, researching, sharing and celebrating the work of colleagues related to women and girls and social justice.
This year our conference theme was Empowering Women and Girls through Education: Collective Voices and Perspectives. Through this theme, the program committee was able to highlight the many opportunities that impact the educational and social conditions of girls and women. Many of our conference presenters spoke to topics and needs related to global issues around culture, poverty, and oppression. It was exciting to have the opportunity to share our work and learn more about how we can support each other.
To continue the energy from the conference, we will build on the networking, publishing, and serving opportunities. Below in the RWE Winter 2016 Newsletter, you will find opportunities to connect with RWE and its members.
Here is to friendship, scholarship, networking, service, and advancement of women and girls!
Sincerely,
Dr. Tonya Perry and Dr. Dana Christman
Co-Chairs, Research on Women and Education, AERA SIG
