Astatula Elementary School

2015-2016 School Uniform Policy

All students at Astatula Elementary will be required to follow the established uniform policy. The established dress code encourages a sense of belonging and school pride. When students are dressed appropriately for school it affects their attitude and promotes a positive learning environment. Astatula Elementary students should dress for success and take pride in good grooming and appearance. Additionally, the dress code ensures the safety and well-being of all students.

School administrators reserve the right to determine if students are not in compliance with the dress code. If necessary, disciplinary action may be taken to encourage compliance with the policy. The intent of the policy is not to prohibit a student from receiving the education he/she is entitled; however, students will have consequences for not following the dress code policy.

Tops: Students are expected to wear solid cotton, knit polo style shirts with a collar, solid tee shirts with a rounded neckline, turtleneck pullovers, or Astatula spirit shirts. Please note that tucked in shirttails are preferred. The following style shirts are NOT allowed: undershirts, bare midriffs, crop tops, tank tops, off the shoulder or strapless tops, or shirts with screen printing.

Bottoms: Students are expected to wear solid cotton navy, khaki, or black long pants, jumpers, skirts, skorts, or shorts. They may also wear plaid. No sweats, knit, or denim material fabric. Jumpers, skirts and shorts cannot be shorter than fingertips. Pants that are frayed, cut or torn are not permitted. Girls will wear appropriate shorts underneath skirts or jumpers. Belts are preferred but optional. Solid color leggings in solid black, blue or white may be worn under skirts.

Sweatshirts: All sweatshirts, jackets, sweaters (pullovers, zip-up and hoodies) worn in the classroom must be solid school colors.

Fridays only: Jeans on Friday must be fully intact appropriately worn jeans without fashionable rips or tears. Jeans can be worn with any Astatula Elementary Walk and Jog shirts, STEM shirts, play performance shirts or any other Astatula school related shirts.
