AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND A WARM SOUTH CAROLINA THANKYOU TO REX, KING OF CARNIVAL 2015, AND TO THE ENTIRE REX ORGANIZATION FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING WORK IN THE 2015 NEW ORLEANS MARDI GRAS FESTIVITIES.

Whereas, laissez les bons temps roule! New Orleans knows how to “let the good times roll,” as shown by this year’s Mardi Gras Parade, held on February 17, 2015; and

Whereas, as a vital part of the celebration, the Rex Organizationexemplifies its motto, pro bono publico, or “for the public good,” with not only its spectacular parade but also its charitable works, carried out by its Pro Bono Publico Foundation;and

Whereas, participating in the Carnival parade were Phunny Phorty Phellows, the Krewes of Oshun, Cleopatra, Pontchartrain, Choctaw and Freret, the Krewes of Sparta, Pygmalion, Carrollton, King ArthurMerlin, All and Femme Fatale, the Krewe of Druids and the Krewe of Nyx, the Krewes of Babylon, Chaos and Muses, the Krewe of Hermes and Krewe d’Etat, the Krewe of Morpheus, the Krewe of Iris, the Krewe of Tucks, and the Krewes of Okeanos, MidCity, Thoth and Bacchus; and

Whereas, rounding out the Parade of Fun were the Krewes of Proteus and Orpheus, Krewe of Zulu, Elks Orleans, and Crescent City. Concluding the Carnival parades was the Rex Parade, led by Rex himself, King of Carnival. All of these krewes paraded through the streets of New Orleans spreading merriment and good cheer; and

Whereas, we are appreciative of all the Carnival organizations’ hard work and generosity in making Mardi Gras in New Orleans such a success. In addition, we appreciate the Rex Organization’s salute to South Carolina State Representative Kirkman Finlay as he rode in the Mardi Gras Parade. Hail Rex! And, if we may express ourselves in the spirit of the famed Mardi Gras anthem, may you never cease to love! Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

Thatthe members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, extend a warm South Carolina thankyou to Rex, King of Carnival 2015, and to the entire Rex Organization for their outstanding work in the 2015 New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the Rex Organization.
