Comments/Explanations

Stewards granted permission for Brendon McCoull to replace R Clark on Just Call Me Fred due to the unavailability of another suitable apprentice.

RACE 1 –DOC SENDER MEMORIAL 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE–1000 METRES

Following a confirmed phone call from Trainer John Blacker that his float had broken down en route to the racecourse Stewards declared Quiet Wonder and Mary Three, which was also travelling in the float, late scratchings at 12.45 pm as the horses would not arrive on course by the required time.

Gee Gee Black Buty - Hung in approaching the winning post.

RACE 2 – ALAN HARDSTAFF MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP - 1650 METRES

Kool Kash -underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers when the rider reported he felt something may be amiss with the geldings action, passed suitable to take its place in the field. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have mild swelling to the flexor tendon and fetlock on the left fore leg. A veterinary certificate of soundness must be produced before racing again.

Windell -Laid in passing the 200 metres and bumped with Tuesdaynitedelight.

Gwemrae – Displayed a slight tendency to lay in in the home straight.

Sir Joey – Rider Mehmet Ulucinar was reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding the particulars being that leaving the home straight on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Before All which had to ease. Briefly held up passing the 400 metres.

Das Good - Raced wide throughout. Held up for a short distance over the concluding stages.

RACE 3 – A J SKIRVING MEMORIAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP- 1150 METRES

Harvey Bay – Rider Boris Thornton harmlessly dislodged en-route to the barriers. Laid in early in the home straight before then shifting out near the 200 metres to obtain clear running to the outside of Tara’s Gem. Rider B. Thornton reported that the gelding in his opinion raced flat.

Col’s Hero -Displayed a slight tendency to lay in in the home straight.

Madame George - Shifted in and brushed the running rail near the 200 metres. Rider Sigrid Carr reported that the filly raced greenly in the home straight and in her opinion this may have been due to the blinkers being applied.

Beryl Bee - Raced wide throughout.

RACE 4 – JOE MASON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP- 1150 METRES

Kentucky Bound - Performed below expectations. Rider Raquel Clark explained that after being carried wider on the home turn by Triple Bee the gelding then failed to run on under his heavy weight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no obvious abnormalities could be detected.

Triple Bee - Slow to muster early pace (2L).

Smartie Artie - Raced wide throughout.

Bella Venus -Shifted out soon after the start and made contact with Lustica. Shifted out rounding the home turn and laid in approaching the 100 metres for a short distance. Rider Tayla Patterson-Doyle was reprimanded under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres which is two more than permitted under the rule.

Lustica – Rider Anthony Darmanin pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres which is two more than permitted under the rule and was fined $100.

RACE 5 – R J (SNOW) & N C AYLETT MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP- 1350 METRES

Savrajette - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after fallingin the tie up stalls and was found to have mild skin abrasion on the front of the left knee, however was passed suitable to take its place in the field. Hung out throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no obvious abnormalities could be detected. Subsequent to the race meeting trainer Bill Ryan reported that the mare had returned to his stables showing no signs of any obvious abnormalities. A warning has been placed against the mare for hanging.

Shlingas (NZ)–Hampered and lost ground shortly after the start when Special Shotshifted out away from Gee Gee Sun Valley which had shifted out.

Tambro’s Game–Came together with Farnor West on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.

Farnor West - Displayed a tendency to lay in in the home straight.

RACE 6 – WAGYU PIE COMPANY & BAKEHOUSE SHEFFIELD CUP–1650 METRES

Raquel Clark rider of Lingo was dislodged en route to the barrier. After being examined by the on-course ambulance officers she was transported to hospital for further examination. Raquel Clark will be advised that she must submit a medical certificate prior to riding again.

Stewards approved the rider change of Mehmet Ulucinar to replace Miss Clark and permitted him to ride ½ kilo over the allotted weight.

Due to the delay with assessing Raquel Clark’s injuriesand waiting for a replacement ambulance to arrive on course the start of this race was amended to 5.05 pm.

Gladstone - Which had drawn the outside barrier was restrained shortly after the start to gain a position closer to the rail. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

At The Weekend – Laid in in the home straight and became unbalanced near the 100 metres after bumping with Dream Roller.

Oerter - Raced wide throughout.

Eternal Speed -Laid in over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the off fore heel. Rider Bulent Muhcuwas reprimanded under AR137A(4)(b) the particulars being that he used a whip action where his arm was above shoulder height.

Up Cups – Declared a late scratching at 8.25am with steward’s permission as no suitable rider was available.

Follow My Dust - Jumped away awkwardly.

RACE 7 – TAS HORSE TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP– 1350 METRES

Due to the delay in Race 6 the start time of this race was amended to 5.42 pm.

Wanaea - Inconvenienced at the start when tightened for room between Another Concerto and Aslanyon when both horses shifted ground. Over-raced throughout.
