RACE 1 – CASCADE BREWERY BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

Queen Of Eight jumped away awkwardly.

Dream Roller over-raced in the early stages.

Near the 1400 metres Queen Of Eight when over racing had to be restrained off the heels of Dream Roller. Sir Joey which was following was hampered in consequence.

Near the 500 metres Ourmatealvin broke down resulting in Mr Fashion shifting out to avoid that gelding’s heels and Reach The Moon having to be checked. Queen Of Eight and Das Good which were following were hampered in consequence.

Queen Of Eight had a tendency to lay in throughout.

Staples Gee Gee raced greenly in the home straight.

Rhagan Cross rider of New Vision which performed below expectations explained that the mare commenced to improve from the 600 metres but failed to sustain that run shortly after. Ms Cross could offer no other explanation for tonight’s performance. Connections advised that in their opinion New Vision failed to back up from recent racing.

RACE 2 – BALMORAL ON YORK 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 METRES

The start was delayed when Add To Friends had to be resaddled behind the barriers.

Connections were advised that a warning has been placed on Flame Of Hope as it was difficult to load into the barriers and contributed to the start being delayed.

Mona was slow into stride.

On jumping away Prince Of Rivers was tightened for room between Chelsarli and Udayan.

Shortly after the start Udayan was unbalanced after being bumped by Windell.

All Bar Madison raced wide without cover throughout.

Near the 800 metres Flame Of Hope when over racing and racing tight between Prince Of Rivers and All Bar Madison had to be restrained when All Bar Madison shifted in slightly. Shortly after this Flame Of Hope was again tightened due to All Bar Madison again shifting in slightly. Georgie Catania rider of All Bar Madison reported that the filly laid in for the majority of the event.

Approaching the 600 metres Windell shifted out slightly and brushed with All Bar Madison which became unbalanced.

In the early part of the home straight Udayan shifted in quickly and bumped with All Bar Madison.

Passing the 200 metres Udayan when struck with the whip shifted in abruptly.

Brendon McCoull rider of Prince Of Rivers which performed below expectations explained that after receiving minor interference near the 800 metres the gelding failed to respond to his riding from that point. Brendon McCoull recommended to connections that blinkers may assist. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

** Stewards upgraded the track to GOOD (4) at 7.00 pm **

RACE 3 – TOLL TASMANIA 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE – 1400 METRES

Correct weight was delayed when Boris Thornton rider of the third placegetter Down To The Wire wished to view the official film. After doing so he lodged a protest against the rider of the first placegetter Victor Wong (What A Buzz) alleging interference from the 450 metres to the 200 metres. After taking evidence from all parties it was established that near the 400 metres Rangaondarun shifted out taking Game Of Thrones out into the running of Down To The Wire. Shortly after this Down To The Wire was tightened between Game Of Thrones and What A Buzz. As Stewards were not satisfied that Down To The Wire was the sole cause or contributed to the incidence the protest was dismissed.

What A Buzz began awkwardly.

Near the 500 metres Down To The Wire (B Thornton) shifted out and brushed What A Buzz when attempting to improve between that gelding and Game Of Thrones where there was insufficient room. Boris Thornton was notified to ensure he is clear of other runners and avoids causing interference when attempting to take runs.

Hayley McCarthy rider of Rangaondarun pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding the particulars being that approaching the 400 metres she allowed her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Game Of Thrones and took that gelding out into the running of Down To The Wire which was tightened out onto What A Buzz. Stewards deemed the interference to be of a low level and carelessness to be of a medium level. Hayley McCarthy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 1 Tasmanian race meeting to commence at midnight 25 February 2015 and to expire at midnight 8 March 2015. In assessing penalty Stewards took into consideration Miss McCarthy’s guilty plea and good recent record in relation to this rule.

Passing the 400 metres Rangaondarun was tightened between Game Of Thrones and Glenferry Road which was checked when that gelding shifted out slightly.

In the early part of the home straight Down To The Wire was held up for a short distance.

RACE 4 – F& W STEWART SILVER INGOT 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 METRES

Gee Gees Cool Gal and Tilmosa were both slow to begin.

Passing the 100 metres Gee Gees Cool Gal was taken in off its course by Princess Of York (ADarmanin) which shifted in. Anthony Darmanin was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding and notified that he must straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

RACE 5 – ARMIDALE STUD “NEEDS FURTHER” VAMOS STAKES – 1400 METRES

Prior to the running of Race 4 Connections of Vibrant Rouge notified Stewards that he would endeavour to ride the mare further forward tonight from the wide barrier draw. The mare was ridden accordingly.

Chi Gong raced wide throughout.

On jumping away Nadeem Lass shifted out making contact with Downwind resulting in that mare becoming unbalanced.

Near the 500 metres Nadeem Lass was bumped and taken out abruptly off its course by Sh’Bourne Spirit (B McCoull) which when over racing shifted out after improving up onto the heels of Merricks Beauty. This incident was aggravated when Vibrant Rouge shifted in marginally and tightened Merricks Beauty which resulted in the pace of the race slightly slackening at that point. Whilst accepting that B McCoull had limited options available to him due to racing in restricted room and being on the heels of Merricks Beauty for a short distance he was notified he must ensure he does his upmost to protect his fellow rider and avoid causing interference when in similar circumstances.

Subsequent to the race it was reported that Angelic Lass had lost it’s near fore plate.

Tyrekicker raced wide without cover throughout.

Passing the 600 metres Tyrekicker was bumped by Morning Starlet which shifted out.

Near the 400 metres Dhanraj had to be steadied and then shifted out to avoid the heels of The Stockman.

Rounding the home turn The Stockman was steadied when avoiding heels.

A post-race veterinary examination of Scouting Around revealed no apparent abnormalities.

RACE 8 – VEOLIA ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES CLASS 1 HANDICAP DIV 2 – 1200 METRES

The start was delayed 5 minutes when That’s Pure Gold reared in the barriers prior to the start before undergoing a veterinary examination and subsequently declared a late scratching at 10.15 pm on veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on That’s Pure Gold to be refunded in full. On jumping away She’s Drahmatic and Flying Stevie came together. Shortly after this, Flying Stevie bumped with Jonolly Lass.

Nuclear Hero jumped away awkwardly.

Dane Koshka and Jonolly Lass over-raced in the early stages.

Approaching the 800 metres Dane Koshka was tightened for room when That’s What We Do (JBayliss) shifted in when not clear. Jamie Bayliss was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding and notified that he must ensure he is sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground.

Rounding the home turn Frinja was disappointed for a run between Nuclear Hero and Prickly Diamonds.

Near the 200 metres Jonolly Lass was unable to obtain a clear run.
