OVERALL EVENT DESCRIPTION: Swim For Change is a non-profit fundraiser to raise awareness for the humanitarian works of North Fresno Rotary, and Rotary International.

THE GOAL IS TO RAISE $50,000.

This is an opportunity for swimmers from the valley and across the state to come together to support global change. Together we CAN make a difference! Swimmers will have the opportunity to solicit donations for their efforts, to support the Rotary International Foundation areas of focus, for local charities and around the world: Promote Peace, Fight Disease, Eradicate Polio, Provide Clean Water, Save Mothers and Children, Support Education and Grow Local Economies. So challenge your friends, family and teammates to see who can raise the most money, and let’s all Swim for Change!

SATURDAY, MARCH 15 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Saturday’s event is a one-hour distance swim event. THIS IS DESIGNED TO BE FUN, WHILE RAISING MONEY FOR CHARITY!Swimmers of all levels are encouraged to participate. Swimmers 15 years and younger must be registered with a USS or recognized competitive swim program. After securing donations for their efforts, individuals will swim as many yards as possible with a one hour maximum time frame. Or any group of individuals may form a team, to swim consecutively, for a portion of (or the total duration of) 8 hours. Swimmers may be used more than once. Awards will be given for multiple categories, including “Best Swim Attire,” so think creatively!

FACILITY: One-hour distance swim will be held in a 25 by 50 meter pool with 24 lanes set up for this event in 25 yard format. Warm/up-warm/down will be available in this pool.

CHECK-IN: All pre-registered and deck entry swimmers must be checked in 45 minutes prior to start time.

FEES: THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE, BUT SWIMMERS ARE BEING ASKED TO RAISE A MINIMUM OF $150 IN DONATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT. Swimmers may raise money individually, or as a team. The total amount of team monies raised should equal a minimum of $150 per team member.Every swimmer raising the minimum donation amount will get a FREE T-SHIRT! Swimmers should ask for “total-sum” amounts from individual donors for their desire to “Swim For Change in the world,” not per lap.

Swimmers may indicate their preference for start time. Although plenty of lane space is available, start times are first-come first-serve, and will be confirmed by email one week prior to event.

Deck entries are also available 45 minutes before swim, subject to availability of lanes.

SUNDAY, MARCH 16 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Sunday’s event is a competitive swim meet, sanctioned by Pacific Master’s Swimming, Inc. for USMS Inc., Sanction # 384-S010.

ONLY USMS REGISTERED SWIMMERS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT.This event is also designed to be FUN, while raising money for charity!

FACILITY: Competition will be held in a 25 yard by 50 meter outdoor pool. 8 lanes for racing. Warm/up-warm/down will be available in this pool throughout the meet, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Electronic timing system will be used.

TIME: Warm up from 8:30 am until 9:45 am. Meet will start at 10:00 am

CHECK IN: All pre-registered swimmers in the first event must be checked in by 9:30 am. Swimmers who deck enter the first two events must do so by 9:00 am. Swimmers in later events must check in at least 30 minutes before the estimated start of the event.

ENTRIES: Entries are limited to a maximum of 5 individual events, excluding relays. Individual entries can be done online at (clubassistant.com—coming soon) or by deck entry the day of the meet.

FEES:

PRE-ENTERED SWIMMERS: $35, WHICH INCLUDES RELAYS.

DECK ENTERED SWIMMERS: $65, WHICH INCLUDES RELAYS. In addition, Swimmers are being asked to raise $150 MINIMUM in donations to participate in this event. (Entry fee can not be paid from donations) Swimmers may raise money individually, or as a team. The total amount of team donations raised should equal a minimum of $150 per team member. To help us start the meet on time, please pre-register. Current USMS/PacMasters rules will govern the meet. All swimmers must be registered withUSMS for 2014.

FOR SHORT COURSE YARD EVENTS, APPROPRIATE TIMES SHALL BE SUBMITTED FOR SEEDING PURPOSES. ALL RACES WILL BE SEEDED FROM SLOWEST TO FASTEST.

Awards will be given for 1st -3rd place finishers in each event.

Teams may be requested to provide supplemental timers.

RULES OF PARTICIPATION FOR BOTH EVENTS:

Registered swimmers will be given access to raise funds online for credit card donations. Checks should be made out to the North Fresno Rotary Foundation. All proceeds raised go to North Fresno Rotary.

ALL DONATIONS RAISED SHOULD BE COMPLETED ONLINE BY CREDIT CARD BEFOREHAND, OR CASH/CHECKS TURNED IN ON DAY OF EVENT AT TIME OF CHECK-IN. Bring your confirmation email, online sponsor totals confirmation, as well as checks/cash to check-in as proof of entry. Online entries close at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, March 12th.

Prizes will be awarded for categories including: Most $$ raised by an individual, most team money raised, largest single donation.
