Share data and identify strengths/ identify areas to work on and create links between partner schools to share current good practice. Identify experienced leaders who could support inexperienced subject leaders.
January – Review term 2 data. Identify progress against action plan to date, share barriers and support/advise where necessary.
July – Review end of year data against targets set. Identify successes and create action plan for subsequent year. / 5% increase at all levels throughout the cluster – see separate data sheet. / 3 meetings – one per term.

Develop a mentoring role for less experienced English subject leaders throughout the cluster / Costs to be covered by school needing support / September, January, July / September – share data using I track system and identify children who are not on track to meet their 14 point target in Reading and Writing by the end of the KS. Plan systems to address issues.
January – review progress of interventions as well as using I track to further identify issues in performance. Adapt interventions to meet pupils’ needs and remove barriers to learning.
July – review process to measure impact in terms of data. / All subject leaders to be confident in analysing data for English.
All subject leaders to be confident to use data to identify areas for improvement/draw up an action plan.

Develop a cluster approach to preparing children to attain Level 6 in writing / £3600 + £600 to release secondary subject leader to subject primary schools and lead enrichment days / October, November, March / October – subject leaders to meet for a morning to review examples of L6 writing and identify specific skills needed to take children from a high L5 to L6.Consider how we prepare the most able children throughout all KS year groups in order to achieve a L6. Consider our practice in light of the removal of NC levels in subsequent years.
November – Plan and lead an enrichment L6 writing day for children targeted for L6 throughout the cluster. Work alongside English subject leader at Secondary School to deliver a programme.
March – Subject leaders to meet and collect evidence of current writing from targeted children and consider next steps for each child’s development using L6 criteria. Children to meet again in order to take part in another enrichment day focussing on L6 criteria. This will happen at the same place and time so that subject leaders can join in with writing session for part of the morning. Subject leaders to create a cluster wide bank of evidence of L6 writing. / All subject leaders confident in teaching the skills required to achieve a L6

To carry out shared monitoring with pairs of cluster schools / £2400
(heads to take part with SL but heads time is funded by each school) / During term 1 and 2, at a convenient time for schools / All 12 primary schools to have a mini review for English.
Cluster schools to partner with each other in order to carry out a mini review of standards, achievement and teaching for reading and writing.
Headteachers to work with partnered school subject leaders and jointly monitor quality of teaching, data and action plans. In partnership each school will have a report of findings. / Increased confidence of SL to monitor all aspects of their subject.
Schools to share current practice and have a clear idea of next steps for development.
Transparency and shared vision within the cluster for QofT, data expectations and actions required to raise standards. / One mini review lasting half a day for each school completed by the HT and SL of both schools – release of 2 SL (HT time free) to complete each review = £200.
