Wednesday & Thursday: I will continue to work on my EAST Project with my group. I will meet with Mrs. Hicks to discuss my project and the steps that I need to take next.

Bell Ringer / Activating Prior Knowledge:

*Students enter class and sign in on the clip board and take a bell ringer from the basket by the door (Make sure that the correct Bell Ringer is in the Basket). Bell Ringers are to be done silently and individually for 7 minutes! (Use Timer). At the end of 7 minutes you can ask for volunteers to share. After sharing, call on one student to pick up the papers for you and please place them in the stacking trays.

Also before the students start, take a bell ringer and read aloud to ensure all students are clear on the questions. Ask that if there are any questions regarding the bell ringer that they raise their hand so you can come to them to answer it. Circulate the room and check on students who may struggle with the Bell Ringer, or staying on task.

Monday: Bell Ringer: Please come in quietly and get into a class full circle for short Monday Meeting.

Ø  Review the Expectations for Red Ribbon Week Poster Assignment.

Ø  Briefly discuss projects that are happening.

Ø  Run down of what will happen this week.

v  Bell Ringer Assignment / Activity.

v  (Monday, Tuesday) Allow students to work on Red Ribbon Week Poster Assignment which is due Tuesday!

v  (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Allow students to continue forming project groups & submit proposal forms; Students should be working on a project.

Ø  Remind groups to have a leader.

Ø  Meet with groups to discuss their proposal forms.

Ø  Help groups develop a game plan.

Ø  If projects are approved, have students begin researching their next steps.

Bell Ringer: EAST Reflection Paper (this will/should take longer than the usual 7 minutes.

Activities/Strategies:

v  Have students Complete the Bell Ringer (EAST Reflection).

v  Fish Bowl Friday. Procedures & expectations. Students names will be drawn randomly from the Class Name Jar. Once called students will come to the front of the classroom and will draw a topic from the “fish bowl.” Students will spend 60 seconds talking about the topic they have chosen. Topics are silly so students do not have to feel pressured.

Homework:

Continue to think about potential projects. What problems need to be solved in our communities.
