Following the running of Race 4 Stewards ordered that mudguards be fitted to all sulky’s.

RACE 1 – CARRICK ROADHOUSE NON WINNERS HEAT TWO – 2150 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from HAPHAPHAPPY.

PROYART which after working to the lead in the middle stages of the event then hung in and contacted marker pegs despite the efforts of its driver. The gelding spun its near fore knee boot on the final turn and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have a laceration to its near fore knee which will require the presentation of a veterinary certificate of fitness before again racing. The gelding has been placed on its last chance to truly for hanging in.

HAHAPHAPPY underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame and to have a swollen near fore suspensory ligament. The horse has been stood down from racing pending a veterinary certificate of fitness to race.

RACE 2 – ISLAND BLOCK AND PAVING NON WINNERS HEAT THREE – 2150 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from NOTONASUNDAY.

After completing two satisfactory qualifying trials un-hoppled PUNTER KARALTA was approved to race without hopples. An announcement to this effect was made prior to this event.

OUR LADY LILY which hung in and tired from the 600 metres to finish distanced has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

MASTER CHARLIE broke free of interference racing into the back straight on the final occasion and continued to gallop for some distance. The gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of ten days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

RACE 3 – POWELL AGRI-BUSINESS PACE – 2150 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from BLISSFULL GLENWOOD.

Following a pre- race inspection at the stables of trainer Brian Mackrill BLISSFULL GLENWOOD underwent a veterinary examination and was scratched on veterinary advice at 2.55 p.m. BLISSFULL GLENWOOD has been stood down from racing pending a veterinary certificate of fitness to race.

LU WAY LORD shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

BARAGOOLA pulled in the score up and then pulled hard whilst racing on the leaders back contacted marker pegs on the home turn. BARAGOOLA was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn before then obtaining a clear run half way up the home straight.

RACE 4 – LA/FM PACE – 2150 METRES

JILLIBY DALLAS broke on the first turn when one hopple shortener pin failed to release when driver Richard Housego attempted to activate that gear. No action was taken against JILLIBY DALLAS.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for FUJI FRED and THE SYSTEM VILLAGE locking wheels shortly after entering the home straight. After taking evidence from drivers Kenneth Austin (ISLAND AFFAIR), Braden Howlett (FUJI FRED) and Dylan Ford (THE SYSTEM VILLAGE) it was established that shortly after passing the 300 metres FUJI FRED shifted to a position in the three wide line, ISLAND AFFAIR then got to a position one of the pegs and shortly after straightening THE SYSTEM VILLAGE which was racing four wide to the outside of FUJI FRED then broke and shifted in abruptly checking and locking wheels with FUJI FRED. Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of THE SYSTEM VILLAGE were responsible for the interference and have placed the gelding on its last chance to race truly.

RACE 5 – FOLEY FUNERAL DIRECTORS CLAIMER – 2150 METRES

CATS AND DOGS which tired over the concluding stages to be beaten by 70 metres underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Driver Andrew Arnott could offer no explanation for the poor performance stating that the gelding travelled well and was not inclined to pull as he sometime does. Trainer Steve Davis was of the view that the gelding did not appreciate the wet track. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

BEEF CITY BEAU which tired over the concluding stages to be beaten by 80 metres underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections were advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

THE ADRIATIC NZ which broke free of interference on the first turn and then tailed the field for the remainder of the event has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Driver Mark Yole (SAAB QUAILTY) was reprimanded under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action over the concluding stages.

Driver Dylan Ford (SKY TOWER) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action in the early stages of the home straight. Mr Ford was fined the sum of $200.

RACE 6 – VANDENBERG TRANSPORT PACE – 2150 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from NOTIMETOTHINK.

REAL RIVER hung out and broke in the score-up before being in position prior to the start being affected. The horse has been placed on its last chance in the draw for future mobile start events

BEVAN GRAY NZ which tired from the 600 metres has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

RACE 7 – NORTHERN TAS LIGHT HARNESS CUP PRELUDE – 2150 METRES

ART EDITION which arrived on course late was scratched under the provisions of AR 42(2). Trainer Chris Viney pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 41(1) and was fined the sum of $200.

Prior to the running of Race 7 Stewards inspected the track, particularly a section of the track at the entrance to the homes straight where surface water was running across the track. Remedial work was attempted however after a second inspection was carried out the remainder of the meeting was abandoned.

RACE 8 – LAUNCESTON BOBCAT HIRE PACE DIVISION ONE – 1670 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from BOLTNMACH.

RACE 9 – PFEIFFER CRANES PACE DIVISION TWO – 1670 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from OSCAR BLAKEDON.
