Comments/Explanations

Following the running of Race 3 Jockey David Pires was examined by the on course ambulance officers who reported that he was suffering from flu like symptoms and would be unable to fulfil his remaining engagements tonight. Jockey Pires was advised that he must submit a medical certificate prior to riding trackwork, trials or races again.

RACE 1 – CARLTON DRAUGHT CLASS 1 HANDICAP–1420 METRES

John Blacker trainer of Sonetto submitted a veterinary certificate passing the mare fit to race tonight.

On jumping away Neconni Girl knuckled resulting in its rider Rhonda Mangan almost being dislodged. Neconni Girl then raced wide throughout.

Ordain and Sonetto were both slow to begin (1L).

Near the 1200 metres Finalaregee which was over racing then had to be checked when tightened for room by Poucher (M Whitehouse-Summers) which shifted in slightly when not quite clear. Millie Whitehouse-Summers was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding and notified that she must ensure she is sufficiently clear of other runners when in similar circumstances. As a result of the tightening to Finalaregee, The Stockman which was following was also inconvenienced.

Finalaregee continued to get its head up when over racing for some distance.

Rounding the home turn Persian Jewels hung in when under pressure which resulted in Melissa Nicholls rider of the gelding having to stop riding and straighten her mount.

In the early part of the home straight Ritzy Bar layed in when under pressure.

For a short distance passing the 200 metres Persian Jewels raced greenly.

Hayley McCarthy rider of The Stockman pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding the particulars being that near the 200 metres she allowed her mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of Ordain resulting in that mare having to be checked. Stewards deemed the interference and carelessness to be of a medium level. Hayley McCarthy’s licence to ride in races was suspended 2 Tasmanian race meetings to commence at midnight 21 April 2014 and to expire at midnight 4 May 2014. In arriving at penalty Stewards took into consideration Hayley McCarthy’s guilty plea.

Hayley McCarthy rider of The Stockman which performed below expectations explained that the gelding failed to respond to her riding from the 400 metres.

RACE 2 – FOOT AND PLAYSTED BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 1220 METRES

Serpents View jumped out at the start and inconvenienced Father Ned.

Serlait jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 1000 metres Huss Style shifted out and took Rosemount Dara out onto Another Concerto resulting in that mare shifting out and taking Father Ned out onto Serlait. Freddie Two Shoes which was following was also inconvenienced.

During the race Freddie Two Shoes got its head up when over racing.

On the latter part of the home turn Huss Style which layed in tightened Serpents View.

Near the 300 metres My Angels was briefly held up when unable to improve to the outside of Constant Rhythm.

My Angels was again briefly held up when attempting to improve over the heels of Serlait.

Near the 150 metres Huss Style shifted out under pressure resulting in Father Ned shifting out away from that filly and hampered Another Concerto.

RACE 3 – TASBONUS 2YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE DIV 1- 1220 METRES

Trainers D & S Brunton were fined the sum of $100 under LR 7.6(a) for the late notification of stable return for Baumgartner adding blinkers to the gelding’s gear.

On arrival on course Lady Spencer was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the mare was lame in the off shoulder and was subsequently withdrawn on veterinary advice at 6.30 pm. Trainer J Luttrell was advised that he must submit a veterinary certificate prior to the mare racing again.

Acting on a report from the Starter that Irish Jack proved difficult to load, connections were advised that the gelding would need to complete a jump out to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

Irish Jack was slow into stride.

Don’tgivemelip jumped out and hampered Fair Player and GeegeesFIrstword.

Near the 1000 metres Sapphire Storm which was racing awkwardly and tight to the inside of Tenby Tourer was then further tightened for room by that mare when it shifted slightly.

For some distance thereafter Sapphire Storm raced awkwardly.

Near the 800 metres Don’tgivemelip hung out and got its head up and when hanging brushed Fair Player.

Passing the 400 metres Don’tgivemelip displayed a tendency to hang out.

Millie Whitehouse-Summers rider of Irish Jack which tailed the field in the early and middle stages explained that the gelding was reluctant to race in the early stages due to the kick back from other runners which resulted in the gelding being reluctant to stretch out. Miss Whitehouse-Summers further added that during the middle stages she rode aggressively and the gelding responded from that point. She also stated that in her opinion the inexperience of the gelding was a further factor in it being reluctant to race.

RACE 4 – TASBONUS 2YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE DIV 2 - 1220 METRES

Following a report from the Starter that Flying Verdict was fractious behind the barriers and kicked out in front, connections were advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.

Tyrekicker and Setoni jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start Tyrekicker clipped the heels of Glenferry Road when taken out by Flying Verdict which after initially brushing with Genuine Lad then shifted out further away from that gelding.

Passing the 800 metres Genuine Lad was inconvenienced when tightened for room by Blushing Quest which hung in.

Near the 600 metres Genuine Lad was tightened onto the running rail and became unbalanced when Blushing Quest continued to hang in.

Approaching the 400 metres Western Front hung in when under pressure.

From the 400 metres Blushing Quest continued to hang in resulting in Shuji Amano rider of the gelding being unable to ride out in the normal manner. Connections were advised that a warning has been placed on the geldings racing manners.

Approaching the 300 metres Le PiccoleCose was inconvenienced when tightened for room by Blushing Quest which continued to hang in.

RACE 5 – LAUNCESTON MITSUBISHI 2YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE - 1420 METRES

Porto was inadvertently shown in the race book as not wearing blinkers when the gelding is in fact a blinkered horse.

Brendon McCoull rider of Antumbra reported that the gelding hung in for the entire race.

Eternal Dream jumped away awkwardly.

Gee Gee Miss Turbo jumped outwards making heavy contact with Porto.

Chain Of Prayers was slow to begin (1L).

Approaching the 800 metres Rich Mantle struck the running rail.

Approaching the 600 metres Anthony Darmanin rider of Eternal Dream dropped his off side rein placing him at a disadvantage for a short distance.

Rounding the home turn Porto hung in.

Passing the 400 metres Frogmoor Mal shifted out to improve to the outside of Antumbraand as a result made contact with Eternal Dream.

In the home straight Antumbra hung in resulting in Brendon McCoull rider of the gelding being unable to ride out in his normal manner.

Over the concluding stages Porto hung in.

Leon Wellstrainer of Gee Gees Dutchess explained that he instructed that the mare would be ridden more forward tonight as it had performed at its best when ridden in a similar manner. Mr Wells further stated that whilst he was a little surprised the mare led he was disappointed with the run and further stated that he has recommended that Gee Gees Duchess be retired. Mr Wells was notified of his obligation under the rules to inform Stewards of any significant change to the recent racing pattern of any horse he trains.

RACE 6 – NEWSTEAD HOTEL BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP- 1620 METRES

Shortly after the start Mega Excel which was slightly slow to begin was then tightened for room between Uboa which was taken out by Ollie’s Gold and Second Dozen which was taken in by Hellova Street.

Brendon McCoull rider of Prince Obama which performed below expectations explained that when placed under pressure near the 600 metres the gelding made a noise and failed to respond to his riding from that point. A post-race veterinary examination of Prince Obama revealed the gelding to have an excessively high heart rate and poor recovery rate. Connections were advised that they must submit a veterinary certificate prior to Prince Obama racing again.

Rasit Yetimova rider of Digger’s Sunrise could offer no explanation for tonight’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

Melissa Nicholls rider of Ollie’s Gold explained that she allowed the gelding to race inside of Hellova Street during the middle stages as she was unable to restrain the gelding back. Miss Nicholls further stated that she was racing in her view excessively tight at that stage which required her to maintain her position.

BulentMuhcu rider of Hellova Street which raced excessively tight to the outside of Ollie’s Gold for some distance approaching the 800 metres was notified that he would be required to give runners to his inside the same amount of room he would expect himself when racing in a similar position.

Millie Whitehouse-Summers rider of Second Dozen which at its recent starts has raced handy explained that after receiving slight interference at the start she elected to restrain back when Hellova Street and Ollie’s Gold set a faster than average tempo to dispute the lead. Miss Whitehouse-Summers added that she was also conscious that if she rode aggressively to race handier the weight that the gelding was carrying may act as a factor in being unable to finish off the race. Stewards noted her comments.

RACE 7 – THINK PINK RACEDAY 20 JULY BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP – 1120 METRES

Correct weight was delayed when Bulent Muhcu rider of the fourth placegetter BelOmbre and other connections wished to view the official film over the concluding stages. After doing so they did not continue with an objection and correct weight was declared.

Tap It In was slow to begin (1L).

BelOmbre jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 1000 metres Osborne was tightened for room when Good Boy Robert shifted in slightly.

Daniel Ganderton rider of Revenging was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the end of the race. When assessing not to take any further action Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that he had not fully ridden to the line and also that his actions had affected the placings.

Erhan Kacmaz rider of Lottie’s Lady pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding the particulars being that passing the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift ground outwards when insufficiently clear of BelOmbre resulting in that gelding having to be checked. Stewards deemed the interference and carelessness to be of a medium level. ErhanKacmaz’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 2 Tasmanian race meetings commence at midnight 21 April 2014 and to expire at midnight 4 May 2014. In arriving at penalty Stewards took into consideration ErhanKacmaz’s guilty plea.

RACE 8 – ELITE SECURITY BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 2150 METRES

Gee Gee Miss Bee raced three wide throughout.

Near the 900 metres Grandarci had to be restrained after improving up onto the heels of Seven Mile King.

Daniel Ganderton rider of Musique Player reported that the gelding slipped behind on jumping away and for this reason settled at the rear of the field.

Subsequent to the race the veterinary surgeon reported that Seven Mile King had bled from both nostrils. Trainer Jason Clifford was advised of the provisions of AR 53A (4) in that Seven Mile King may not be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two (2) months and it may not start in any race for a period of three (3) months effective today, whereafter it is to satisfactorily trial over at least 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward.

Brendon McCoull rider of Topiary which performed below market expectations explained that in his view when Grandarci shifted in advance of it near the 600 metres this interrupted the geldings progress which contributed to it being unable to maintain its momentum which contributed to its performance.

RACE 9 – SHAREE MARSHALL MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE – 1620 METRES

Set For Tea and Keep Racing both stood flat footed and lost ground (4L). Connections of Set For Tea were advised that the mare has been suspended from racing until she completes a trial to the satisfaction of Stewards. Connections of Keep Racing were notified that the gelding has been suspended from racing until it completes a satisfactory jump out.

When the pace slackened near the 1100 metres Dartel when over racing shifted out to avoid the heels of Arkadashim resulting in Down To The Wire being taken out off its course.

Shortly after this Down To The Wire (R Yetimova) shifted in resulting in Teton’s Poppy being restrained. Alive which was following then shifted out to avoid that mare’s heels and as a result Decent Deal was taken out off its course. Decent Deal was then obliged to race wide from that point. Rasit Yetimova was reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding and notified to ensure he is clear of other runners when shifting ground.

Over the last 50 metres Diocese raced tightly between Dartel and Gee Gees Cool Kid.

ErhanKacmaz rider of Dartel was reminded of his obligations to keep his mounts straight.

Rasit Yetimova rider of Down To The Wire which performed below expectations explained that after receiving some interference passing the 1100 metres the filly then failed to respond to his riding.

RACE 8 – TATTERSALL’S PARK FUNCTION CENTRE CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

Erhan Kacmaz rider of Status Seeker was reprimanded under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) and AR 137A(5)(a)(i) in that he used his whip on six occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres which is 1more than permitted under the rule and also used his whip in consecutive strides.
