Treasurer’s Report – We had 2 Zaxby’s checks come in $220 & $290. No expenses this month. Balance is $8652.25.

Secretary’s Report –An email was sent to the SGA sponsors with a couple of suggestions for the upcoming elections since the school now has advanced technology. The suggestion of online voting still has quite a bit of resistance. The suggestion of the students doing a campaign video was well received. Since this was not written in the election rules, the videos will not be done this election cycle, but will be written into the rules for next time.

Laine noted that the Weekly Announcements on the website were dated January 14th.

Principal’s Report –Mr. Evans reported that May will be a month of testing with the EOC, MAP, AP Exams, ect. Teacher contracts are due Monday and almost all are back. They will be trying to add English, Social Studies, and Chemistry teachers.

Awards have been added for each of the 4 content areas for each grade. Citizenship awards will also be given for each grade on Awards Day.

Once again, there was some discussion about Homecoming with parents wanting to reduce the time commitment on students, financial commitment from parents, and bring a sense of school spirit and togetherness to the events.

Spirit Club –

  • A Spring Dance has been approved for May 20th.
  • A design has been decided for Tailgate t-shirts for the fall. Spirit Club members will get to order theirs early and be able to wear them to promote sales at Orientation and New Eagle Day.
  • The Pizza fundraiser was a success. They raised about $600.

Hospitality – No Report.

Teacher Appreciation Week – May 2 – 6

  • If Mr. Evans does breakfast one day and District 50 does something one day then we just need to do something on 3 days.
  • Lunch – Instead of bringing in lunch, there was discussion of giving a coupon for a Little Caesars Pizza attached to a Mountain Dew with some cute saying that I can’t remember. Laine will ask parents to contribute the sodas via SignUpGenius.
  • Breakfast – Corley’s muffins, fruit, juice, possibly casserole.
  • Small gift with cute saying

Fundraisers

  • We did not have a Zaxby’s night in April, but Kelly Addy is working on scheduling for May and June.

Blood Drive – No Report

Membership – No Report

District 50 Board Meeting – Parents presented our concerns about Piedmont Tech classes being taught off campus. They also requested that they add Honors US History, Honors English 4, and Honors Calculus to the curriculum. The Honors US History has already been added and Mr. Evans reported that he thinks we will have enough students for 3 classes.

Yearbook Day – Because of the condition of the fields, our expanded Yearbook Day (aka Grease Day) has been put on hold until next year. It was suggested that we might have concessions and music in the cafeteria and on the blacktop instead. Mr. Evans said to speak with Stacy Platt who is in charge of Yearbook Day.

New Business:

  • An email was sent to the membership announcing PTSO officer elections and committee chairs. We will vote on 2016/2017 officers at our May meeting.
  • Laine reported that Emerald Ink was pricing some GHS shirts for PTSO to possibly sell. Sarah Hartung reported from the Booster Club that there is discussion of adding a tab to the athletic department website for spirit gear orders. She thought that they were just going to do one design.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting is Wednesday, May 18that noon. We need someone to provide our lunch.
