RACE 1 – ALLEN WILLIAMS MEMORIAL HEAT TWO – 2150 METRES

OUR JETAR raced rough in the score up.

LORD CYRIOLI refused to score up and tailed the field. LORD CYRIOLI will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile start events. Connections have also been advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and until the completion of 2 satisfactory trials.

On the first turn ROBYN SCHERBOTSKY NZ hung in and raced rough briefly.

BLISSFULL GLENWOOD pulled hard and hung in on the first turn and then broke. Connections were advised that the filly has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

TOPNOTCH SAMSON was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

RACE 2 – TREVOR MAZZONE MEMORIAL DIVISION ONE – 1670 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from JOHNNYART and TERRORCAM.

START BLUSHING which had not started in an event since the 29th July 2012 underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.

TERRORCAM broke after the start. Connections have been advised that the gelding will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

Racing into the first turn INNASBROOK hung in whilst racing three wide, IM SHOUTING which was racing to its outside also hung in.

IM SHOUTING shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

RACE 3 – DAKIN REFRIGERATION PACE DIVISION ONE – 2150 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from LIAMS DREAM and DAVPASS.

NONONONONO broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

BREAK OF NITE hung in in the score up.

Racing into the back straight on the first occasion BOOZY ROUGE hung in and contacted a marker peg which dislodged and as a result CAPTAIN CLANCY and NO NONONONO broke. No action was taken against either CAPTAIN CLANCY or NO NONONONO.

Driver Mark Yole (BOOZY ROGUE) was issued with a reprimand under the provisions of rule AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action over the concluding stages.

RACE 4 – LAUNCESTON PACING CLUB PACE DIVISION TWO – 1670 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from MIGHTY JASPER and TOP WINDY.

GREY SECRET which had not started in an event since the 7th October 2012 underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.

THE MINT broke after the start and shifted out checking THE LOVEBOAT, which also broke, and as a result BUTCH AND CLYDE and GREY SECRET were checked and broke and MIGHTY JASPER and BUCK MAJOR were inconvenienced.

TOP WINDY which was out of position at the start will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

JIVE KICKS broke free of interference on the first turn. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

On the first turn ROWDYS KNIGHT was checked and broke.

Connections have been advised that THE MINT has been placed outside the draw in future mobile start events and also THE MINT, which finished distanced, has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

RACE 5 – CARRICK INN HOTEL PACE DIVISION TWO – 2150 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from BARRYS BEST and SARAH LEWIS.

CHARLIE CHARLIE raced ungenerously and then raced rough after the start dislodging it'sheadcheck bit.

Post race swab samples were taken from SMOKIN MUSTARD the winner of the event.

RACE 6 – WING RURAL PACE – 2150 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from KNOW ONE and ARTILLERY FIRE.

Stewards queried driver Ricky Duggan (CARDINAL TUCKER) into the gelding’s performance in tonight’s event. Mr Duggan stated that the gelding struggled to maintain its position in the score up as the mobile neared the start point and in his view the gelding was awkward in its action before then breaking. Stewards have placed CARDINAL TUCKER outside the draw in future mobile start events. Mr Duggan further added that the gelding felt uncomfortable and broke on a further occasion and it was then his decision to retire the gelding from the race at the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination on CARDINAL TUCKER revealed the gelding to be lame in its hind end. CARDINAL TUCKER has been stood down from racing pending a veterinary certificate of fitness.

HARLEKEN WIZED which was out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver James Johnson has been placed on its last chance in the draw in future mobile start events.

Driver Ken Hall (REMEBERPREECE) was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of rule AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action over the concluding stages. Mr Hall was fined the sum of $200. Mr Hall was also reminded of his obligations when driving out to the finish.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for WILLIE WINALOT breaking near the 800 metres and as a result BONFIRENITE being checked. After taking evidence from drivers Brady Woods (WILLIE WINALOT), Mark Yole (BONEFIRENITE) and Braydon Withers (SHEEZ EXQUISITE NZ), Mr Woods was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of rule AR 168(1) for careless driving, the particulars being that whilst racing in a position one off the peg line passing the 1800 metres Mr Woods allowed his horse WILLIE WINALOT to contact the sulky of SHEEZ EXQUISITE NZ, WILLIE WINALOT then broke. Mr Woods was fined the sum of $200.

RACE 7 – POWELL AGRI-BUSINESS TAS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP – 2150 METRES

RAMPLESTILTSKIN hung in whilst racing three wide on the first turn.

FRANKIE FALZONI shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Driver Matthew Howlett was issued with a reprimand under the provisions of rule AR 162(1)(www).

JANE GRANT was held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.

Post race swab samples were taken from FRANKIE FALZONI the winner of the event.

RACE 8 – VANDENBERG TRANSPORT CARRICK CUP – 2650 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from JESSIE MAGUIRE NZ and AMADMANCOMESUNDONE.

BLACK CENTURIAN was fractious before the start.

Just prior to the starter releasing the tapes BLACK CENTURIAN(John Walters) shifted sideways getting its offside hindquarter underneath the sulky shaft. Driver John Walters called to the starter who then called a false start.

PUT MBACK galloped out and has now been placed on its last chance in the draw in future standing start events.

DEVENRA, which galloped out, has been placed on its last chance in the draw in future standing start events.

PUT MBACK was held up for clear room over the concluding stages.

HIGH FLYING RULER was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

Post race swab samples were taken from DEVENDRA the winner of the event.

RACE 9 – JAMES & SON STAKES DIVISION THREE – 2150 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from SIR PHILO and GOTHIC RAGE.

BUTTERS was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

Stewards queried drivers James Johnson (CAMS OK NZ) and Gareth Rattray (MON VISAGE) as to the reasons for MON VISAGE racing roughly in the first turn. Mr Rattray explained that the gelding had sustained a broken hopple shortener in the early stages of the event and was racing with uneven length hopples at that point and this contributed to the gelding racing roughly for some distance until he was able to release the remaining hopple shortener. Mr Johnson was reminded of his obligations to ensure sufficient room when crossing horses racing to his inside.

GENERAL

Racing Services Tasmania, Henty House, Launceston – Friday 14th February 2014

Stewards heard an objection lodged by owner Michael Maxfield (NIVEK) into BONGIORNO BOYS being declared the winner of the Two Year Old race at Burnie on the 7th February 2014. Mr David Hayes represented Mr Maxfield and the grounds of Mr Maxfield’s objection were that in his belief BONGIORNO BOYS was wrongly handicapped. After taking evidence from Mr Hayes, Racing Services Tasmania handicapper Mike Stiles and from Kevin Nielsen, Tasracing Code Development Manager for Harness, Stewards dismissed the objection and ordered that the judgesplacings stand.

Launceston Pacing Club, 9th February 2014 - Race 5

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons for RAMPLING galloping for some distance and then falling at the 900 metres. After taking evidence from drivers Tim Yole (MUSSELROE BAY), Kate MacLeod (RAMPLING) and James Johnson (ME MATE LES) Miss MacLeod pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 168(1) the particulars being that she allowed RAMPLING to contact the sulky of ME MATE LES, whilst trailing that gelding. In determining penalty Steward's took into consideration Miss Macleod's good record under this rule and guilty plea. Miss Macleod's licence to drive in races was suspended for 2 race dates commencing midnight the 15th February 2014 and expiring midnight the 23rdFebraury 2014.

Brighton Inspection – 14th February 2014

Driver Dylan Ford pleaded guilty to a charge under rule AR 159A(7) for not wearing a safety vest during trackwork at the Brighton Training Complex and was fined the sum of $100.
