2013 Farm Technology Days Field Demonstration Committee announces schedule

During the 2013 Barron County Farm Technology Days, visitors will have the chance to get some hands- on experience with precision agricultural equipment. New this year is a Ride and Drive area featuring the latest tractors with GPS Guidance System and Field Application Sprayers. This year’s Farm Technology Days will be held July 9-12 at the Breezy Hill Dairy in Dallas, WI and demonstrations will be held all three days of the event.

Part of the field demonstration area is dedicated to tractors with GPS guidance systems. Participants cantest drive a variety of tractors equipped withautomatic steering or guidance systems. This allows the chance for participants to become familiar with how the guidance system operates, learn the best applications for the technology, and explore the different options available. The Field Application Sprayer demonstrationswill be at the top of each hour to show the sprayers capabilities along with a chance for spectators to some hands-on experience following the demonstrations.

In addition to the new demonstrations there will be the traditional demonstrations as well. Hay merging and forage harvesting equipment along with forage boxes which will trailer or truck your feed to the silo will also be available for participants to experience. Raking and baling with round and large square balers of baleage will be shown. However instead of wrapping the bales, bale processing equipment that unroll or chop forage for feed or bedding will be demonstrated.

Planned exhibitors in the demonstrations include: New Holland, John Deere, Case IH, MacDon, Claas, Poettinger, Dion, H&S, Oxbo, RCI, Teagle, Tubeline, Meyers, Fendt, Hagie, and more.

Field demonstrations run 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM daily – weather permitting. Trams will transport spectators to and from fields. So come kick some tires, ask lots of questions and see if any of this new technology can help you improve the quality of your forage crop or reduce your production costs. For additional information contact Keith Kolpack, 715-537-5627, or Matt Schofield, 715-984-2872,
